Drive Recorder error

I also have this issue on my G20. Tried resetting idrive which fixes the issue for that day but next day the issue returns. I have not yet activated my subscription to Spotify but I do use the DAB radio.

Will report when I get time and what concerns me is that I am getting a reduction on my insurance premium for having a dash cam system which appears to be faulty.

Had to reset yesterday but went out this morning and it was still working. Thatís a first, up until today Iíve had to reset every day Iíve used the car.

This variability makes no sense!

Same on my G20 330e

Hi !

I have the same with my 330e ! (Delivered 1st October 2019).
I had the same error message at first (The first 3 weeks).
Went to my dealer, no clue, they are checking with BMW group, but it has been a month, and still nothing.

One day, I pressed the button. Magically, it worked. Next day, same, it simply worked.
Yesterday, tried to launch the recording, the same error message again. This morning, worked like a charm.
Seems to be very sporadic behaviour.
Never reset iDrive yet....

Iíve been chasing up the Ďgeniusí at my dealer and got this response today...

ďI've had a response from Brett, who had received a reply from BMW regarding the TSARA case.

They have explained that it is a known issue and are currently trying to fix the problem behind closed doors - this typically means a fix should not be far away.

I will keep you updated on how this is progressing but unfortunately there is not much else I can do at this point.Ē

Iíll let you know if I receive any further updates...

Interesting, I just checked the on-line Connected Drive store and it's not there -- as I said I have 4 cameras. Wonder if it's something that is not in US yet?

BMW UK complaints team are looking it for me.

I don't think there's any point us taking the cars to the dealer each time it occurs as they obviously have no fix yet.

I'm confident telling you the dealer has no clue. BMW doesn't release "release notes" not even to their distributors. The best they get is replies saying a specific issue is fixed. And most of the time they don't even get that!

Just tell them to reprogram your car with the 11/2019.xx iStep level (ISTA 4.21.xx) and let you try it out. Remind them they might need to download it from BMW. Just released.

I have just read an email from my local Dealer that BMW UK should have an over the air update available later this month to fix this

So let's wait and see....

This is the relevant email content I received:

'I have been informed that BMW UK are due to release an update later this month that should resolve the ongoing issue you are having with the Drive Recorder functionality. This will be a in--car ĎAppí update.

As soon as this update is available our Service Dept will be in touch.'
