Right mirror doesn't dim at night?

Seems like only the left mirror and rear view dims at night in my M340i

Correct! Just cost reduction, they changed it in 2015 with the F30 LCI

It’s a shame!

It's made like that. Only the left and rearview mirror dim.

My left mirror doesn't (I don't think it has as of yet though...) but rear and right does

Yeah, this was changed when the LCI of the F3x generation was introduced. Mercedes does the same thing while Audi still dims all three.

yeah they introduced it with the F30 LCI, bugged the hell out of me too, since my pre-LCI 320d DID have it ! But the dealer told me it was due to a european law prohibiting it ...

I use to believe that BMW eliminated the dimming feature on the passenger side to save a buck because that's how they get down until I was in a brand new S550 Mercedes with a $110,000 MSRP and I had then notice that mirror doesn't dim on the passenger side either, neither does my mom's Honda Accord.

I've come to the conclusion that it was eliminated on the passenger side, on all vehicles, for safety reasons, as mentioned.

So I believe your dealer was correct, sometimes It just takes one incident for them to revise the rules, for instance:

Has been discussed before but all major brands seem to be doing it. Personally I don't mind.

My 2017 A6 has dual auto-dimming mirrors and I believe the new Audis do too. So I think it's a cost cutting thing.

I think it’s cost cutting too and they are using that law or whatever it is as an excuse. All my Audis and even my F25 X3 have auto-dimming ORVMs as well as IRVM.
