That's great for that cold weather. Plenty of range for me, since even my 2019 i3 has way more range than I need. And I have taken my 2017 116 mile range i3 BEV from LA to Vegas, San Francisco, etc. With no issues using the EVgo network. My i3 can get 150 miles. But even running my heater in SoCal, my range dips to 90 miles often. Anything over 200 miles is more than sufficient for me. Need an extra 100 miles, so you take a 15 minute charging break. No big deal.

I've actually read in another article where the BMW i4 M50 did 267miles in a steady 100kph test, where the Tesla Model 3 Dual-Motor LONG RANGE, not performance... did 273 miles. So, very happy with how the i4 M50 w/ 19" wheels is coming about thus far, specially considering it was done in NL on 01.24.2022 (in other words, COLD day testing(=) Did you see the range/charge test by Bjorn too? It looks like the i4 is delivering on its promise of 10-80% in about 30 mins, in the same weather as his test quoted above impressive

mid 3's @ 15% SoC, now that's what I call consistency...
side note, 100-200kph 8.3 seconds

Will be interesting to see how the M50 compared to the likes of an Audi E-Tron GT or Taycan 4S as both would be considered a rival to the M50 more than the M3P will be.

I wish all the tests would disclose SOC (CARWOW!). 0-200 there is almost a 1 sec difference between 58% and 97% SOC. Last edited by hotrod182; 03-12-2022 at 09:17 AM.. |

Seems to have a weird lag off the line that I'm not used to seeing with other EVs. Not sure if it is a safety precaution or what, but that might be a dealbreaker.

Yeah, if they could program out the initial lag, the BMW would likely beat the Model 3 in low end range acceleration runs as well.

And even if there was a slight lag, that wouldn't affect the car's performance from full stop. If the car isn't moving, the timer isn't going either right ? In addition, the i4 m50 rolling start numbers are excellent, so I'm not sure where the problem is. |

The reality is .2 seconds is like the difference between behind to 60mph is the difference between being neck/neck and being at another cars front axle line, so are you truly "overtaking" that car, the answer is no, unless you intended on crashing into the vehicle next to you to claim insurance fraud

Because I've driven a number of performance EVs and this is literally the only one that has a senseless delay mechanism on throttle. It's odd and frankly off-putting. Hoping they address it sooner rather than later.

I’ve driven only ICE cars, most performance ones but in recent years they have all had turbos so throttle response isn’t anywhere nearly as good as the i4. To me at least it’s throttle response feels very natural.

The Taycan 4S demo car I drove here in the U.S. had a slight lag also. It was in the default drive mode, whatever that is (sorry, I don't remember). Maybe that diminishes when you change to another mode. It wasn't a bad thing necessarily, but it was surprising. When I put my put down, there was a pause and then WHOOOOSH away I went as the power pushed me back in the seat.

As someone who owned BMWs with weird throttle mapping; this isn't a deal breaker to me. I'm waiting for my first test drive in the next couple of weeks. I have finalized my build, pricing and 1.9% financing with BMW. (Why use my cash when I can use theirs?)
