Got the AA downpipe installed (along with M Perf catback)

Finally got the Active Autoworke downpipe installed on my 2022 330I (Thanks Mike at X-Powerhouse for the good deal and fast shipping)! Thought I'd give a little review. I also have the M Performance exhaust installed.

I was looking for a downpipe that didn't make the car much louder in comfort and daily driving and this downpipe does just that. There's no drone at any RPM's and isn't any louder during daily driving. The downpipe really comes to life above 3K RPM's or when you get on the throttle; it screams! When you're in sport mode and get on the throttle, the sound puts an instant smile on your face. Power wise you can maybe feel the turbo spool a little quicker and some more torque; no extravagant gains but it is noticeable. Smell wise, I don't smell gas smell whether driving or idling (even if it's in the garage). The downpipe also gives some more burbles/crackles or whatever you call them when letting off the gas at higher RPM's. My slight concern is now I've had it on 200 miles and 4 days and I'm still getting the occasional check engine light. I did the downpipe breakin and still got the CEL immediately after. I cleared the code but it's been coming back. It's been coming on less frequently; this morning went 40 miles before it came on and this evening; cleared the code and drove 50 miles and it hasn't came back on (knock on wood). I know I've read it can take 100 miles or so before the downpipe breaks in and the light stays off; I'm hoping mine just happened to take a few more miles than that to get fully broken in.

Here's some videos of a cold start and another getting on the gas a little.

I had a similar thing happen with my 330i and the AA Catted DP. Every couple hundred or so miles, I'd get the CEL. I'm in the middle of a warranty return with them, they're very friendly and helpful.

Oh dang! I've heard the customer support/warranty is great. I'm hoping mine was still just breaking in; while it's awesome they offer replacements if needed I can't afford to keep paying $700 to get the new downpipe installed if worst case scenario it came to that.

My CEL triggered a couple of time for first couple hundred miles. I never cleared it. Went off by itself a day or so after it came on. Hasn’t ever triggered again.

Awesome that's great to hear! So sounds like it can take slightly longer than 100 miles before light stays off for good. That's good to hear

Anytime! Yesterday I got the CEL again after like 2 minutes of driving as car was warming up. I've been using my OBD MX+ dongle/app to clear the temporary CEL. I called Alan at AA and he said I need to clear both the temporary and permanent CEL and then I should be good (if not I can do a warranty replacement). I'm not sure how to go about clearing the permanent CEL 0420 code; I thought the permanent goes away on it's own eventually?

give it 100 miles or so, then try clearing it again.
if it does not go away on its own or after you clear it, contact Alan again.

Thank you - reset again and still throwing the CEL. Contacted Alan today and submitted warranty claim. They're sending a new downpipe; he said this new one is some prototype that's been more successful in not throwing the CEL so fingers crossed

Im in the middle of a warranty claim and after a week of silence, they told me their downpipe were on backorder and being made. Love how different people get different answers from their customer service 🙄

Garage List
The B48 seems very sensitive, I had an Eventuri intake on my X2 m35i and it would throw a lean code every now and again, did the smoke check, re-tightened fittings, nothing would stop it.

I never got a code on my M440i with the AA DP or my intake.

Sorry to hear that! I called them Monday; downpipe shipped the next day and I got it on Friday. Hoping CEL stays off with this one!
