Drove to work this morning with no issues, got back in my car to leave for lunch around 12:30 noon cluster lit up but idrive stayed blank with s very small BMW word logo in the middle..figured it was booting up slower and drive off, started pressing a few buttons slowly like "home" "idrive wheel" "volume"….nothing changes screen remains the same…whatever I left on during my morning drive was still on but blank screen, so A/C on but no access to changing temperature nor fan speed. Whatever I had access to control thru steering wheel controls still work the same. Pulled over, did the usual, shut car off….opened driver's door and watched cluster shut off but idrive stayed the same, BMW logo still there. Got out, closed and locked with key left key about 10 feet away in order for car to go to sleep, walked over without key to see if screen had turned off and to my surprised it was still the same.
Since I had my obd dongle I even tried making a quick coding change since the last step in coding usually resets ECU's and has fixed other weird glitches in the past in my other car MY2019 G20, coding was successful but screen remain the same lol. At this point lunch time was over so drove back to work, parked shut car off, started talking to my friend while taking stuff out of my car when I noticed the logo finally disappeared, I immediately sat on the driver seat and hit the start button and there it was all perfect again, screen back up and the world was awesome again. So what happened??? Well not sure..My educated guess is that it was either an update or a glitch, most likely an update..but if it happens to you don't panic at least for me it came back on with no issues, these cars have a ton of stuff and things like this can happen, if it happens again or I run into other issues I will update but for now I drove the car a few times since and everything is working flawlessly, just my experience since I know these are new systems and it might help some of you, luckily I took a pic when it happens so at least you can see what it looked like

Hi, I still don't know why it happened. but it happened on the 2nd day after i picked up the car.
it was fixed when I walked away from the car with engine off, and came back 15minutes later.
Never happened yet.

FYI, I have been driving 2023 3 series about 7 weeks now

This just happened to me yesterday while driving on the highway. Screen went blank but showed the BMW word logo. Then it showed the front and back cameras but it was very glitchy. I ended up holding the volume button for about 10 seconds and that seemed to have reset everything back to normal.

This just happened to me at about 500 miles on a 330ix. I reset with the radio button but I am concerned. Anyone know if this was an update? Should I call a genius?

Just happened to me 2023 M3 Comp. Blank centre screen the buttons still beep when I touch the screen and the Android Auto is working in the background. Hopefully it resolves itself.l

I’ve had a similar situation’s happened with my car as well, yesterday I was driving home, and the center screen went completely black… and of course I was using GPS which screwed my drive up.

Just happend to me.. Went to cheddars with my old lady. When it was time to leave I just had the "BMW" logo on the screen. Hopefully it was just an update or something. No bueno

Just happened to me. Parked at a store. Came back to the car and stuck on the black screen with just BMW letters. Tried holding down vol button for 30 seconds to reboot system multiple times but no change. Drove home parked it and locked it. Here’s to hoping it comes back when I go check it again in a few here. 😬

Looks like maybe self corrected. Came back a little while later and center screen seems to be working as normal now. Hopefully no more scares.

It happened to me while coding, and it was fixed when I loaded a backup.
