M performance spoiler on black sapphire metallic

Hey anyone have input on the m performance spoiler on a black sapphire car? Wondering about getting it painted to match. It looks great on cars that are a different color (especially white) but wondering if I won’t look as good being close but not quite matching the black paint. I’m looking at the following spoiler: https://www.bmwpartspros.com/partloc...catalogid=8798

Any input is appreciated!

I think you shouldn’t have it paint matched, as long as it is carbon fibre, it will look fine. I installed a carbon fibre spoiler for my Mineral Grey Metallic 330i and it looks great. I think anything carbon fibre will look great, with any colour, so go for it!

That’s a good point, but I’m not that into carbon fiber so would want it to be black. If the m performance spoiler we’re high gloss (like the shadowline grill) I probably wouldn’t paint it, but not sure how I feel about matte.

So washed the car and decided to post results. Got the m performance spoiler from Ind Distribution and had them paint it BSM to match my paint. Wanted it to be subtle and look factory, so I think this accomplished that.

I ordered the "rear deck spoiler black" and it ended up a matte black. The dealer is having it painted gloss (which i thought it would be all along) as it would not go well with the gloss trim and accents. I'll post pics when i get it saturday

Can take whatever pics are useful for you. Have a specific view you want?

Thanks! Can you take some from looking straight down? And from the side straight on and may be one of the middle indent? Sorry. It’s hard to see the details on black. Also can you PM about the purchase. Thanks

It’s pretty hard to see with black, but here goes.

Thank you!! I know realizing black may not have been the best option. Doesn't show details very well or the aggressiveness.

I will admit--it is NOT aggressive. It's subtle, understated. The carbon ones sit on the top of the deck lid, where as this is right on the edge, so it's smaller and slightly less noticeable (at least on black).

How much did IND charge to paint it black? I checked their website and didn't see the part listed: 51192455880

Also, did you install it yourself? Did you use tape or adhesive? Thank you.

120 to paint, installed it myself using 3m tape and the 3m adhesive promoter (both from amazon)

Hmmm

I wish they had the carbon fiber style in black to match the rest of the set. The matte black is too conservative for me. I have an alpine white 330i and I am looking for a nice gloss black but don't want to stick some cheap ebay plastic spoiler on there. I also don't want the carbon fiber M spoiler because I am worried someone will try and rip it off.

If anyone has a good recommendation, please send it my way.

The dealership here had a m340i with the unpainted matte black m performance spoiler on it. I was wondering how anyone could charge for it. It looks like someone stuck paper mache on the hood. That's why I'm getting my 330i with the M Sport OEM spoiler that's standard on the m340i.

For such a small spoiler it adds a lot of character and sportiness, love it!

I'm considering this one. The person that reviewed it has a white one and it looks nice.

I just ordered Mineral Gray 330i for the wife. She thought it would have a spoiler like my M340i. I'd love to see yours with the CF spoiler, if you have a pic handy.

Thanks in advance!!

had mine painted gloss black for 120CAD$. makes no sense for it to be matte black without the option of choosing gloss black from BMW.
minor mod but makes a significant change IMO
