Regenerative Braking

Hey all,

When lifting foot from accelerator in Hybrid mode on the 330e it obviously slows down significantly qicker than with regular coasting.

Does the brake light come on when this is happening? Just that whilst adjusting to this I've noticed a few drivers being a bit irritated / getting way too close as they obviously haven't been expecting me to slow down so quickly.

If not - should it?

I’ve been wondering this exact same thing. Am sure if I remember I could try and make it happen where there’s a reflection somewhere I’d see like on some passing shopfront glass or something... I never remember when I’m driving or can think of somewhere I can see the reflection or glare at the back.

I noticed a car coming off a slip road the other day, am sure it was a BMW and the break lights were distinctly blinking fast (but evenly) on and off quickly... I wondered if this was something related, but could have also been anything as it was dark and the car was a way in front of me...

Blinking brake lights is usually when the ABS or emergency braking systems are activated no?

I don’t think they do come on you know

Regen braking doesn't apply the brake light. I think it's because it's a milder effect than say on a full EV

That’s what I thought. But it’s still more than a big enough effect to catch drivers behind unaware. Slows down at least twice as quickly as coasting would.

You’re right it doesn’t come on you need to be careful. If I get a nice big hill I check behind as you can slow quickly and cause trouble!
