330e Dashcam

Hi everyone

long time lurker and finally ordered the 330e, due in May!
Was considering a dashcam and couple of thoughts
a: what kind of impact does this have on the battery, anyone had any experience on this?
b: any suggestions for good models etc, and how did you connect it up

Many thanks

It won't have a significant impact on battery.

If your order isn't in yet then it might be worth looking at the parking plus pack with drive recorder. Essentially uses the 360 degree can as a dash cam.

I'm gutted they haven't allowed this to be added on earlier models with the 360 camera.

Surely it's just a software update?

Does the drive recorder store on an SD card or can you copy footage to a USB memory stick?

The drive recorder uses all four cameras on the car. You can configure it how you like, but, typically it will record 20 secs of video before and after the incident. You can then view it in the car and copy it to a stick.
It's brilliant, about time manufacturers stated to build them into the cars, especially as most premium brands have cameras on them already, makes sense.
There are a couple of vids on youtube if you want to take a look.

Just recently had a nextbase 422gw hardwired with rear cam added. Quality wise can't complain so far as footage is nice and clear. Battery drain wise I can't comment with certainty as yet but fitter wired it in to the internal lights and has said drain should, as only the impact sensors will be running in the background when parked, be minimum.

I agree with you that it is about time that feature was added however the lack of parking monitoring is still disappointing.
