Hey MGooda

Thanks for replying. I don't suppose you could take a few pics by any chance, I really can't make my mind up between Shadowline or not! And I can't find a dealer who has either

Thanks

Yeah, you'll have to bear with me as it's currently filthy.

Will warn you though, seeing it in the flesh makes a huge difference. I looked at used car pictures before deciding and they don't do it justice. The grey and black contrast really well.

Thank you, did you see the Cerium wheels before deciding on the black?

Bought it blind, without seeing or driving, and wish I hadn't gone for black at all. To be fair the Cerium wheels were ok, but I didn't like it around the grill, mirrors etc.

Got lucky as had to reject the original one because of some issues, and whilst BMW only committed to a like for like replacement the dealer pulled out all the stops to change the colour and upgrade to Shadowline.

I'm now over the moon with it.

Ah ok, that's handy then!

I had that a few cars back, they agreed to swap the colour but as you said took a little bit of persuasion!

When you get a chance I would really appreciate a few photos, but no rush!

Was a culmination of niggles to be fair, was in the dealer for 5 out of the 8 weeks I owned it. Admittedly I had an M4 and X4M as loaners for that period to ease the pain!

Primary rejection reason was a persistent metallic clonking that was coming from behind the bulk head when coming off the brake pedal. Dealer thought they had cracked it for it only to return and I asked them to support the rejection, they did , as did BMW UK.

4 weeks into the new one now and hasn't missed a beat, all turned out ok and was painless, contrary to what I was expecting to be the case based on a lot of what you read.

Thats good then, a really great result for you.

I always thought it was an almost impossible task to reject, but, it seems like it was relatively easy, not withstanding the grief you had for 8 weeks.

I share your pleasure in having a decent loaner to ease the pain...I had a long running issue caused by the dealer on my F34......eventually they identified the problem but needed the car back for two weeks to resolve so I cheekily asked for an 8'series or i8 loaner....imagine my surprise when they offered me a choice of either

Decisions decisions....... I had to go for the M850i convertible as there was no room for my golf clubs in the i8.

Even though it was a real pain getting the golf clubs In the M 850 it was ok......

YorkieBMW Thanks for taking those pics. Quick question, in the configurator the Cerium bits look like they stand out a lot but in your pics those same parts look a little bit more subtle and sit better on the car. Would you say that is a fair statement?

Also are you happy with the open-pored trim?

I’d say the jury is still out on the Cerium pieces. To your question, yes they are definitely more subdued than I thought they’d be, which is great. However, they are a bugger to keep clean which often makes me wish I’d gone for the black.

I love the open-pored trim. It now feels like wood. I previously had a walnut trim on my 328i GT and that was so varnished it could have been plastic.

Thanks for posting these. I'm thinking about installing black grill/bumper trim/mirror caps/exhaust tips on my MG and wanted to see how they look.

If you haven't already done so, try giving them a dose with a good leather conditioner - I had no issues with keeping the Oyster clean on my 328 GT.

I am assuming 'cerium' is the colour on the seats. If not, pretend I never posted.

Do you miss the cavernous boot on the GT as much as I do??

Andybird Hey, the bits we are talking about are the slightly different colored grill, wing mirrors, and lower air intake bits. But noted about the leather conditioner as I might go for the lighter interior too

Cerium is the colour of the exterior "metal" trim bits
