Don't worry, combustion engines will keep existing for very long time, despite the incredible lobbyism of certain balloon corporations.

Bruh just do a muffler delete LOL. If you can get a 340i im sure $100 muffler delete wont hurt and it will sound better than the 2020 one.

Please take into account that many countries outside of the US (including UK in my case) = every modification must be declared on insurance, costs sky rocket, muffler deletes are strictly illegal, removing an OPF is illegal etc. It's becoming more and more necessary for cars to come 'good' from the factory yet it seems they are actually becoming worse from factory. As said above, thank politicians who have 0 interest in the car scene.

Hi everyone, it occurs probably because Bmw put on 40ì model the same European software. Due to bigger restriction vs Us models here in Eu we have less power and less sound. But the solution is just around the corner with good software update by some tuner you will have all the sound as previous models. In Europe unfortunately we have also to get rid of OpF vale on exhaust

I'm sure this is why the change was made. Some people want that sound most do not. At least give us the options BMW!
Are you saying this is a software only difference?

This is my suspicion as well. They disabled the pops and burbles temporarily in Europe on certain SW versions for F3x, 2 years ago. It was reenabled in later versions. Don't ask why. I'm
glad it was.
Noise emission legislations are making their way throughout Europe. It has to do with that.

Anyone else here happy for a natural-sounding exhaust?

No? Just me? That sounds about right...

In California if police think your car is too loud you can get a $900 ticket. If it's illegally modified and they see it you're screwed.

That's exactly the point - how does a 6 Cyl engine "naturally" sound?
For sure not as gay as it does in the 2021 above.

The rest is a matter of preference. As I have said many times - sound and noise are 2 related terms but should never be confused.

I am so grateful for exhaust flaps, making 2 different worlds possible to co-exist...!

Florida drivers do not need to obtain a yearly inspection for their vehicles, nor are they required to have a vehicle emission test.

Same here. The exhaust sound and note with those pops and burbles on my 2020 is what I absolutely love. I put on the MPE and damn, it's insane!! It even has the odd small pop when I'm in comfort mode with the exhaust.
Thanks for the comparison! Much appreciated.
This is how I feel as well. I absolutely would not drive a MY21 without the exhaust note after having my 2020 for about a year. Complete deal breaker and bmw needs to know this.
Just curious, what would you get instead?

Simple, relatively inexpensive fix:

Fabspeed catted downpipe (emissions compliant). It will sound awesome.

If you want to adjust bubbles and pops (and gain power) add a Bootmod3.

And yet the Genius' will tell you it's not that different. I brought this up to them a couple weeks ago and they brushed me off saying it's not that different. I also don't like the inability to disable the auto stop/start but I understand why.

I test drove a 2019 BMW X4 M40i it had all the pops and crackles, but I ended up getting a 20 model. When I first got it the car barley had any pops and crackles, but after driving a while it's like the whole exhaust just changed. It now does stupid loud bangs and back fires like crazy for just being a stock exhaust.

It's almost like driving the i8 in it's electric and gas setting, when you floor it in electric mode and the engine kicks in. Does that make sense?? If not call me and we can do a zoom convo with demonstration haha

It also doesn't shut off every time like in traffic etc, there's parameters to the system and when it does turn off, it's probably not a time you're about to punch it, but if you did you'd still have the instant go. My X3m and f80 are both set to off lol so personally the feature is stupid.
so would you say the stop and go is as good as hybrid (say 330e) if that's the case I would be just fine without the ability to disable it

Never driven a hybrid (except a short test drive of en eTron), but the Start/Stop on my F36 is the best (least annoying) I have driven. I assumed I will be disabling it, but it is so smooth that it doesn't bother me at all.
