So, 2023-4 reappeared for me overnight. I think I'll give it a few days to check it's stable before trying to re-install it over the 2023-4 version I managed to install last week before it was withdrawn.

Compare the current one to my last screenshot.

See how the long number changes.

The 23w30 is the MGU firmware sate ( week 30 , 2023 , so July 24th)

I'm going to download the 'now officially released' 2023-4 map this afternoon (then probably go off to the supermarket since my download speed of about 5.5 is absolutely crap!) and then have a go at uploading it and see what happens....at least my dealer is only a few miles away if I brick it!!!

Can confirm the 2023-4 is officially released for iDrive 8 users.

Also note, they have corrected the USB size ( correctly says a 64GB is needed, not a 128GB).

New Version number is 101072326.3.00

I’ve just downloaded 2023-4 (again) - I’ll load it into the car tomorrow.

Sorry to hear your download speed hasn’t improved. I was very pleasantly surprised that mine downloaded much faster than it has in the past - it peaked at around 114 MBit/s, and so the download took just over 5 mins - a significant reduction. I guess that’s due to the reworked Download Manager - are you using the new version? Transfer to the USB drive then ran at about 32MBit/s.

Just finished downloading 2023-4, still copying to USB just now. Took about 1hr 25 mins to download at around 7Mb/s, and I have a decent (not full fibre though) intertnet connection.

Using the new DLM, it seems to be as slow a sh*te. Is there anywhere one can download the old DLM?

Don't think there's any point now. By the time the next map update is out the old DLM will be dead.
Last time I loaded it, it had some message about not working soon.
Plus, the old one was even slower.

Funny you should say that but the dead slow download I was expecting went incredibly quickly too although whilst it was running it said something like verifying download as though it was just checking it was ok?
Then when I uploaded it to the car the idrive message stated that that was the map already loaded but did I want to update it anyway which I did.
I did notice it was exactly the same build number as per ramparts posts explaining that aspect.
Map seems to be ok but it seemed to be ok when I downloaded the earlier one we reckon hadn't been quality checked.
I guess only time will tell if it's not quite right!

I'm not an IT expert but I would assume the slow download speed is due to the bandwith being throttled at the BMW end to manage the volume of downloads and nothing to do with the Download Manager which is probably a very simple bit of software managing the Point to Point data transmission.

Mine peaked at 18MB/s over full fibre, took 35 mins. Makes you wonder what BMW have at their end.

If you didn't see the downloading being shown on the screen I suspect it may have been using the previously downloaded file, and as a result it just needed to verify it before writing the data to your USB drive.

Have a look in your download folder and you may find the zip file still there so you can check the date. Here's the zip file I just downloaded, so you can compare the filename with the one you have.

If this is true, you might not have downloaded the very latest version.

I previously updated mine as well to 2023-4 before it was pulled from the download manager.

Having downloaded again today it looks like the same version that's currently installed on the car.

I've deleted the old download file and tried a new download. Its still downloading 101032326.3.01 as the latest version.

When I plug into the car it just says that this is already the latest version.

Finally had a chance to check this on my iMac and you're spot-on!
It is still in the download folder and exactly the same as yours as per your screenshot.
