Acceptance might be easier if we knew the dimensions of the grille.

Why do the specific dimensions matter? I'm not being antagonistic, just curious why it's a hot topic.

For me I think I would have a better understanding as to how it would relate to the proportions of the front of the vehicle.

I don't see how though. You'd also need to know the dimensions of other things aside from the grille (..e.g. the bumper, headlights, length/width of the vehicle itself, etc.) in order to scale it accurately. Knowing solely the grille dimensions won't answer your question entirely. Dimensions on paper are also absent the 3D perspective.

The guy who penned the thing probably can’t even rattle info that off. You ask the question as if you have some dimensions in mind that will satisfy you regardless of how it looks.

Depending upon the dimensions I will have an idea how it will fit the front of the car.

You have an idea of how it fits the front of the car by... wait for it...

looking at pictures of the front of the car.

Are you planning on mocking up the grill using cardboard or whatever, and then mounting it to the front of some other BMW? If so, you don’t need exact dimensions. You can easily get it within a few percent just by estimating based on the size of the vehicle or parts of the vehicle.

At any rate, I’ve created you your very own thread. Maybe you can crowd source the answer.

As has been discussed, in numerous posts on this forum, by persons who viewed the concept car in person, the photos do not truly depict the grille because of the various camera lenses used and angles of the photos taken so looking at the photos of the front of the car would not be a determinating factor. However, your comment about a mock up of the grille was very insightful since in my chosen field I have had occasion to produce them.

Viewing any photograph is going to give a different impression of seeing the object or scene in real life due to the fact that it is projected onto a two dimensional medium. But scale can still be gauged based on the relationship between the subject and other familiar items in the frame.

We know from the press release that the concept has 21” wheels. That provides enough data to accurately judge, within some reasonably small error margin, the size of any unfamiliar elements on the vehicle. Try leveraging that to estimate the grill size.

We’ll thats perfect then. I’m sure you’ll be able to come up with a nice mock-up.
