Chrome vs Black grille

Does everyone agree that the black grille looks better than the chrome one?

I personally find the black grilles are sensitive to body colour, more so than previous generations, due to the size and grille style. IMO, can be too dominant and look cheap and tacky. Then the chrome surrounds can look too much as well, on some colours. It is as if the surrounds could look better 'colour coded' to the car.

Let me know if you're selling you're black one. Cheers.

I don't mind the Cerium grey, it looks really good on certain colors, but then you should also have the 792 wheels.

On some of the colors but not all. I tend to cringe when I see a mineral grey or black that has an all black grill, I think it takes away from the look and BMW kidney grill pedigree and and kind of makes the car look sort of low-rent. Yet at the same time, I think an all black grille looks great on Dravit grey.

I think black grills look particularly good on white or light colored cars. I'm actually not a huge fan of the M340 grille, I think the vertical 330i grill looks better. Depending on the color though, the M340 can look nice.

Its all about contrast, really.. thus very depending on color.

I've since switched to the gloss black mesh grille but I don't have any pictures of it.

On white I like the cerium grille...black seems like such a contrast (maybe if the grille surround was thinner I would like it better in black).

The slatted black grille is definitely better looking than both the standard slat and mesh grilles. The black mesh grille, however, is the sexiest.

Never liked chrome on ANY car I've owned, always ended up painting them or having it wrapped.

Yes and No, in my opinion:

No:
If the vehicle is equipped with the Sport-Line or Luxury line, Chrome kidney grill will work with the satin/chrome trim around the windows.

Yes:
If the vehicle is equipped with the M-Sport Package, and black trim around the windows, then black kidney continues flow of the colour scheme for more meanier and sportier appearance.

Chrome grills are not available from factory for M340i. Unless you switch them out after you have the vehicle.

Is that a BMW part or 3rd party?

My dealer (North Carolina, US). Could not find a BMW part number for a black active grille for an M340i.
