I really, really, really wanted to like this care when it came out. So far I am not overly thrilled with what I have seen in pics. I will wait and see how it looks in person.

That nasty grille looks a little better with the brighter blue car (the parts manager car).

I'm calling it now, a bunch of 330i buyers will swap their grilles with M340i owners. I'm sure there will be enough 330i owners who just want to make it look like they own an M340i and let's be honest, pretty much all M340i owners will want to "downgrade" to traditional glossy black slat grilles.

Also, I really think this grille looks much better on the Z4 M40i because it doesn't slope up like the m340i.

If the grille on the G20 simply didn't go up as high on the hood, it'd look so much better. This is really worse than the pre-LCI E90 grilles with that tacky chrome strip:

Hopefully they fix it like they did with the LCI E90:

Price out your other options and don't be afraid to look out of state.

Another thing to consider is how in 3 years, the 340i will lose like 50% of its value, the M3/M4 wont.
Did you receive the email from a FL dealer?

The e65 was always unattractive and will remain so. Inexcusable headlights.
The e60 got lucky in regards to the notoriety of the M5 and because of how it bares a keen resemblance to the "new and hip" Model S.

Here, let me fix those numbers real quick for you . Your comparing a nicely optioned or fully loaded M340i to a non existent base M3 , yet to be released. But for argument sake ...

Base M340i : $54,000 & ( Speculation ) Base M3 : $72,000

That's an $18k price delta.

Fully loaded M340i : $70,000 , (Speculation) M3 Comp loaded: $90-100k
Yeah I get this logic... I don't understand why we keep comparing a fully loaded vehicle to a stripper version of another vehicle... Usually the people who purchase stripper M3's are purists / want to take it to the track... They'd never cross shop it to a fully loaded 340 - it'd also be a stripper model...

The colour has always been one of the least flattering, IMO, and it's overcast to make matters worse so will reserve judgement

I'm not sure if you've seen the option list for an M3 but there's very few boxes to click. The M3 comes standard with a lot of what is an option for a 340i. A comparable 340i to M3 is between $7,000-$10,000. This is even less if you didn't go for the comp pack or the DCT. Start adding m performance to the 340i and you can get within a couple thousand.

At the end of the day you need to look at cost of ownership. In 3 years, that 65,000 340i is going to be worth ~32,000. The M3 will be worth 45-50. So in 3 years you paid $33,000 and drove a subpar vehicle where as if you went with the M3, you'd only have paid $25,000 to $30,000.

This isn't about bashing those who have a 340i on order, it's about opening their eyes that their paying more money for a car designed for "sheep" and the clueless mass market who can't do some simple math and only look at MSRP. The fact that you can lease an M3 CS for what a 340i leases for now boggles my mind why anyone would want the 340i even if it didn't look like a run of the mill 3 series.

With not being able to get many other packages and options, the MSRP came close to about $68,000 thousand dollars.  Crazy for a 3 Series.

Worse, the new 3 Series compared to its competitors in its class and for the price in the US market lacks power tilt and telescopic steering wheel, comfort seats, cooled seats, 4-zone temperature, power headrest, power front seat leg extender, soft close door, and a more quiet cabine.

The cockpait is okay, but Mercedez C class, Audi A-4, and few others have a much better interactive and HD displays.  The map in the cockpit is so old technology looking.  Also I, miss the ability to switch the speedometer to a analog looking style.  Aside from changing colors to differentiate between sport, comfort and ECO, it is very disappointing.
If you want all that crap buy a Lincoln.

The car is discounted over $10,000 off MSRP and your trying to say the test went well? BMW is offering another $5000 on top of that. I actually inquired about one of those on your list that currently shows no discount. Without much negotiation, sale price was in the high 80s. Add the fact that on a lease your paying the difference between sale price and 61% of MSRP, your looking at monthly payment close to if not less than a 2020 340i.

The deal to be had on that car is the lease, which in most states you only pay the tax on the depreciation, not the sale price.

I'm not sure what you trying to prove here?
