I believe they’re white briefly during the transition on or off. I have yet to induce it while the car’s running. I’ll experiment with the settings this weekend.

On the M5 CS the only time you get full yellow DRLs are when low beams are off — not when they are on. When the headlights are on just the small corner of the DRL is yellow and the other bigger bulb (L shape) turns white. You also get the full yellow when first opening the door so long as you didn’t use remote start. It’s quite a bit of odd scenarios with diff light configs. Lmk if the M3 CS / M4 CSL functions differently.

I can’t believe we are actually debating about DRLs and how they work.

Can someone please comment on how much better the CS is than a regular g80mx

It's like Raquel Welch walked by in a bikini and all everyone wants to talk about is the color of her fingernail polish. Sheesh.

I think you need to wait for another couple of weeks to read such comments since people need to run in their cars first.

You asked for it:

https://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ...14:0015:en:PDF

The color of the light is found in this directive, which is mentioned in the above document:

https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-cont...6L0756&from=en

A BMW engineer explained in an interview (not sure if I read it or saw it on YouTube) that there is a legal reason for having the yellow "icon" lights available with the standard beam lights together only. BMW does not support a retrofit for other models. I don't know of any EC technical certification from a tuner to allow the yellow DLRs to be retrofitted but I cannot exclude that such a thing exists.

In Germany (and I assume in the rest of the EU as well) nothing is legal which isn't explicitly permitted. Simple rule.

Europe...can't say much about the UK right now.

Interesting observation: I checked a few M4 CSL pics from US owners in this forum and all of them have the standard beam lights on when the yellow DRLs are on. Haven't seen a single pic of a car with running engine with the yellow DRLs without standard beams on.

Is it maybe different from state to state in the US?

How it works in the US is how it works in the U.K.

I think the dude above took a picture of his yellow DRL when he unlocked his car.

I posted a picture earlier of my USA CSL with the engine running, beams off, and yellow DRLs on.

Here’s another. The engine is running.

I drove around a bit last night with only the yellow DRLs (no beams) to confirm the behavior.

Hi mchgcp can you please share any brief driving impressions of the M3 CS with us?

How does it feel compared to any other performance/sports cars you have driven?

Thank you - had to close the DRL debate for good.

Looking forward to hearing CS driving impressions. If it's truly an AWD CSL, it'll almost assuredly be an all-time great experience.
