How do you know someone isn’t camped around the corner with those key clone devices and this guy is walking around with a empty key getting close enough to the house so it can be cloned?

The new BMW keys go into sleep mode when not in motion and do not emit a signal. Cloning the key is not an easy option anymore.

Was covered in the old thread. Also in this thread, he got email confirming a key had been made.

This story is crazy... i'll just go ahead and say that is an enormous amount of effort for a car that is very easily trackable.

Hope the police can help here... I would throw an airtag in the car just as backup of a backup.

So he got an email stating key had been made. Surely there’s a way of telling which dealership made this key considering they KNOW the key was made?

Unless he already knows which dealership made the key. Which in this case I’d be suing.

This is an incredible thread. I feel bad for the OP and really hope this situation creates some positive changes at dealerships, although not optimistic it will soon enough. Unbelievable if there is actually someone inside a dealership assisting in this criminal action. This needs to be elevated through corporate.

This things affects mental health also, how can i sleep well when I know someone cloned my key and trying to steal my car for a month? Really sorry for you and I hope the police will find these guys because I dont think this is happening only with your car….

Here in Colorado and just a couple miles away from where I live, thieves are doing door checks with a gun their hand during the day and have been caught on camera multiple times. Lucky enough for them they haven't made their way to my neighborhood, yet.

I spent a few seconds googling and these guys will apparently send you a genuine pre-programmed fob if you just email them a copy of your totally-legit ID and reg. Lol. I guess that is all it takes.

I tried buying an extra credit card key for my G82. I went to the parts counter and they wanted a copy of my purchase paperwork and to see my title in addition to ID to order the extra key.
