Rear wheels have a small black spoiler, can we get that for f80? TLG?

Looks much better than m4 / 4 series to me but not liking the rear quarter panel lines yet, no power dome??, and front lights are too pointy to me. I'm still keeping my e46 and f80 m3s...
The "small black spoiler" on the rear wheels arches are actually wheel arch stripes introduced because of homologation guidelines.

About 70 countries across the world are introducing new regulations when it comes to noise and road / wheel noise. The regulations state that the tyres have to be "within" the arches and therefore the extenders or "small black spoilers" were installed so that the tyres don't extend out the wheel arches. They are there to make sure all new guidelines are covered.

Interesting. I like the look. It makes it seem wider. Does it have some protective measure against rock chips? I assume it's part of the wheel well cover so may not be easy to put on an f80

Not sure how it's fitted on. Since it sits slightly wider than the rear tyres I guess it would offer some protection against rock chips. I agree it does look cool!

M3 is starting to grow on me but only the m3. M4 is horrible with those rear lights and flatter body lines.

I think white will look good too.

They're spray deflectors. In the past, 2 versions were used depending on the national market (short aft - long upper). With WLTP and RDE in effect, the long version is now the sole version to reduce testing. The short version has slightly worse aerodynamic properties.

Aside from the rear/quad exhaust and new front grill, which is growing on me it looks like the G20 (vanilla). Doesn't look as aggressive as the F80. IMO

There's a completely different reason why automotive design is trapped in this generic cycle.

Nope :-) could be the sharp looking edges, or the two tone colour, but they are not doing it for me. But then I don't mind the grill so I'm a minority!

997 was beautiful, came with PDK in later generation as well. 996 was ugly and came with bunch of hate inducing factors such as air cooled ->water cooled. I would say G8x is definitely more 996.

+1

I'd prefer more of a race inspired wheel like the M3 CS. These look like Gucci wheels. Not concave enough.

I'm fine with the grille, and also think these wheels look great. My wife took one look at the front end pic and said "what's the problem?" Her favorite car is her 19 ES 350 with the "waterfall" grille- and I don't mind it either.

This really is the end of an era.

I feel like the ludicrously fast 0-60 times this will hit due to X-Drive is there to mask over the fact the new M3 has lost its driver appeal, good looks and is going to sound turd. The only people this car appeals to are Audi-Heads who brag about 0-60 times because that's the only fun they can have.

I'm confused.

Preliminary drives are saying it drives better than the F80, it will likely sound the same or better, will be way quicker, will have selectable or permanent RWD, and while looks are subjective (subjectively, it looks better too)…

So if this is an end of an era, as you put it, what era is that? What does that make the F80 since it's clearly the inferior car?

People are so dramatic...

How bout add on the fact bmw is launching the rwd models 6 months ahead of xdrive and putting a big marketing push behind the manual transmission to hype the launch....
