Pops/Bangs

Hey yall, anyone else sick and tired of their m340i losing pops/bangs?

I swear, im on update 11/2022.60 and its like the car sounds like a 330i. It used to sound so loud and have the upshift bang everytime and now theres nothing. There was a new update on the app i think 3/2023 but I dont want to risk making it worse with the update

I wanted to take it to a dealer to get it reverted back to how it was but they all say they cant do it(even though they can) and I dont really want to tune yet.

If anyone knows how to go back or do anythin to bring out the sound on my 2020 back, greatly appreciated.

Also, is it true that they lowered horespower and torque in the updates as well?

My daughter’s 2020 M340i is on 03/2023.50 and it sounds great. All of the expected pops and bangs plus ASS still coding works.

Updates cannot be reverted. Even by the dealer.

Some of the updates will TEMPORARILY mute the 2020 M340s. It’s like something has been reset. Drive your car hard for a couple hundred miles and the aggressive pops and burbles will definitely return. I wouldn’t have believed this if I didn’t experience it myself.

If you don’t have a 2020 model year then you never had the aggressive sound to begin with.

Exactly this! ☝️☝️☝️
Keep it in Sport Plus and drive it like you stole it. Those pops and burbles definately will return.

My 2020 sounds the same no matter which software I'm running, but it does take some finessing after an update.

I can usually get my vehicle behaving and sounding normal within 10 min after leaving the dealership or updating. I just stomp the gas and short shift around 4k-5k rpm to get that gnarly upshift grunt sound. Once I get that sound, all the pops follow.

I wouldn’t hesitate to do the updates. I’ve done all of the updates (except for the last one because it downloaded but never let me install it) and still have all the pops and burbles that originally came with the car.
