LOL It's comical. They also have a red x next to the 8 speed BMW transmission because the Type S has a 10 speed . Even though the M340 gets better gas mileage and shifts way faster lol. More gears doesn't mean better. They also showed the Tiny rear BMW calipers to compare with the front Type S brakes, also ignoring the fact you can get larger wheels than the 18 inch OEM ones. Total deceptive marketing.

Why the hell are we still discussing this? Anyone that thinks the TLX Type S is a better car needs to check into a psychiatric ward, period.

It appears Acura marketing does not realize that Honda 10 speed has direct gear at 6th, just like ZF 8AT.

Or Acura folks believe 4 vs. 2 overdrives are important(I guess they are, for fuel efficiencies. )

Seems like Acura's marketing has been taking lessons from Tesla's marketing team.

Which is even more hilarious when you realize that the M340i has more power and gets better fuel economy while having 2 less gears.

Hadn't even heard of the TLX type S but just took a look. It's the usual old eeewww when it comes to Japanese cars and their angles; too many of them and invariably in the wrong places. That extends to most of the Korean cars too. Mazda was (is?) the one exception. I couldn't have a Type S even if it performed like a Ferrari 488 because it's just so uncomfortable to look at.

Mazda consistently offers amazing value for what you get, both from the perspective of comfort and driving enjoyment. It's the one mainstream car brand I recommend for enthusiasts.

Yours is a minority opinion regarding the TLX appearance. Most people, even the car's critics, find the exterior appearance very nice, but as I've said before, the sheet metal is writing checks that the car can't cash.

It looks like 'Some car'. No way to determine what it is before you see the logo.

While I 100% agree that the TLX type S is disappointing performance, and their marketing campaign is misleading at best - I feel like attacking its looks is just going too far. It's a damn good looking car.

I agree...good looking car (aside from the slightly droopy rear taillights). I can't blame Acura marketing for doing what they're doing though. I mean what are they supposed to say? "Our new to market car, that so many have been waiting for, is a bloated underperforming whale in its segment!!"

I would buy TLX Type S at the price of a comparably equipped 330ix at 15% off MSRP. It has good looks and powerful lungs that needs lots of fuel, it just does not run that fast(likely a bit overweight).

To me if it can't withstand a full day of pounding at the track with minimal tweaks (pads, brake fluid, tires) it's a no go.

Only time I ever saw a tlx at the track it cooked the brakes in 2 sessions and went into limp mode before lunch break. Not saying it can't be done but just in no way ready for it like a BMW.

Oh come on, that color in that building from that carefully worked out three-quarter angle is hiding a multitude of sins.

Pic 1: Sinjun Kyotomax (designer) says "I just swipe angle this way, and then angle that way and then angle this way again and... and... this bloody Samurai SuperDrone slide rule is getting out of contro.. yeaaaaaaaa!!!'

Pic 2: Ed Smith (janitor) says "Oi, Sinjun, I've found a crap load of small glass triangles in the friggin basement mate, wanna stuff em randomly into your motor design somewhere me old buddy??"

Pic 3: Rear end of car (smug arse) says: "Hey dudes, just smilin' and chillin' and smokin' me four joints all at the same time, like so radical man!"

I feel like they shouldn't have done any comparisons to the competition at all. If you're going to come out swinging at the competition then you've got to be able to back it up.

If instead they didn't try to compare themselves to the competition and represented the car for what it's supposed to be - a good looking, comfortable daily driver under the Acura brand that lets you have a bit of fun - I'd have no issues with that and would have totally respected them for it.

But in the way they presented things, they put a big target right on themselves and completely tarnished any hopes of appealing to the enthusiast community.
