I’ll take mine in RWD please.
Unless you're racing it every week you won't need the water every day. What kind of driving do you do on a day to day basis? It's not a big deal to add water every now and then.

Glad the 6MT is confirmed, although like some others with this amount of torque I'd be interested in 6MT + MxDrive. Oh well, I expected this.

I had a 335 x-drive with a 6MT and did a couple of high rpm launches at the drag strip. Could not imagine doing that too often.
A clutch and differentials that can hold up to 450-500 hp with AWD and row-your-own are not the things that make those cars $200k.

Another poster said it, but Chevy/Ford both have manual gearboxes that would laugh at the max output of this S58 motor. We all know the price is going to climb - there will be a higher % of these cresting 6 figures as specced than any prior iteration - there's no reason it can't be done.

Especially considering BMW is now trying to give us all 31 flavors we never wanted at the same time, I wouldn't care about a 7-10% premium upcharge to add the MXdrive to a 6MT car. There's a market for it, no matter if it gets built or not.

That's truly unfortunate. The production F90 M5 debuted at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2017, within a year of the debut of the G30 5 Series in October 2016.

It sounds like perhaps BMW remains a slave to tradition, and has decided not to debut the G80 until after the G22 does so that the G82 can be shown with it. Apparently even with 30k+ sales on its own the M3 remains handcuffed to the M4.

Stop scaling HP, BMW. Sheesh. The stripper should have the same output.

The pictures on BMWBlog showed only two exhausts out back. I know that would irritate me. I wonder how many others would be annoyed by that?

I guess I can thank BMW for saving me money by making me not interested in trading my current F80 6MT for the new G80.

Must be the reason that the 6MT 911 Turbos are RWD. Or the reason that the 6MT Gallardo's were RWD too. Maybe the same applies to the R8-10's with the gate.

I dunno, seems to me that there's a vacant spot in the AWD Manual sedan market that's been wide open since the departure of the S4 6MT's. I am one of those who would love to see it filled, and would as history dictates, vote that choice with my wallet - if only I were given that option.
I do agree with this. Only sold my 2014 S4 manual because it was too boring. More of a luxury sports car. I'm sure if the M3 filled this segment, it surely would be a more exciting drivers car. That being said, I'll take mine RWD please. Lol

Am I the only one who's looking forward to an M4 Gran Coupe? Hope it looks as sleek as the RS5 Sportback or even current 4er GC

I'll not be flash tuning in the future.

There is zero market for a wagon M3, the upcoming X3M will fill this niche. Just pipe dreams.
Well that sucks. Any idea what models are affected? 2019+, 2020+?

I'm excited that they are still offering the manual in the new M3 and not just potentially the M4 like threatened before.

I just hope they let you add options without removing the manual.

Executive package - remove manual
Blue paint - remove manual

etc

Can't wait for the first guy to put a tune on the manual and blow his transmission.

Plenty of power for stock. Add in some nice suspension bits and lose some weight, I'd drive this. Skipped f8x for a reason.

Also surprised at this, seems like it is just "tradition" driving the launch timing. considering how long the mules have been out testing and how much information is out there. say it enters production july 2020 as a 2021 model that would be another 15-18 months of development. Is that really necessary?

Nein nein nein! This so-called M3 "Pure" should have a pure/NA inline-6 engine, RWD, 6MT.

I love options...

Give me the bloated/autobox/all luxury/max power version. I just want a M5 thats not so damn big.

I have friends who would be all over the "Pure" models.

WE ALL WIN!!!

sadly not what I wanted for the new m3, although I get it. easy to try to satisfy everyone, make a mini m5 with the zf8 and awd, and make a 6 speed manual poor version for purists.

I wonder if the car will feel numb like the current m5 and the x5m, and the pure version will be great but underpowered.

I don't know anymore. There are just too many unnecessary variants of the same car and it's just watering down everything. The M3/M4 should consist of two either the base or comp, 6 speed or auto, and RWD or AWD. No need for "pure" versions.. :
