It's probably gonna be the M3 early adopters that get burned Taking a step back to 10000 ft you can really start to read popularity of models from the programs... m5 has a 5000 rebate but not on the m5 competition (which is the hotter model) |

with cooling M pack and full on M suspension and the M cars getting auto gear boxes - this edge is erasing and becoming thinner and thinner. M340 will be the first truly track able car with cooling pack and M suspension |

The M340 and the G8x M3/4 will have no bearing on each other, just as the 340 and M3/4 don't now.

Please let's not start calling the M340 an M car... for the sake of the forum and my sanity, lol. |

In my mind that separation wants to stay as well after 20 years of driving M cars. Current 340 and current M3 are very different cars. And that's how it used to be:Only M cars used to have :
- dual clutch transmission - Limited slip differential - Extra Cooling radiator etc. Now M340 has it all - Limited slip - Auto box - same as M3 - Extra cooling radiator - same as M3 _ M340 xi - is the first M suspension in 4 wheel drive car So you tell me if M performance is not very close to real M anymore. Drive an M850 - it is great |

Granted, the M340i might be closer to an M3 than ever, but 80% doesn't mean the same. That said, buy whatever makes you happy and enjoy it, that's all that matters in the end!

There is a large gap between the outgoing 340i and the F80 M3. Personally, I find the 340i is just too soft for any serious performance driving (even though I tracked it a few times), while the M3 is too aggressive for a daily driver. I hope the M340i is going to be just right...

My lease ends in 14 months. It is looking like my dream M340i is possibly going to cost $63,000 USD. I'm wondering if I'll get anything off that MSRP price.
I also can wait to see what this forum looks like in 14 months and what people have to say about the m340i's they are ordering.
