One comment that struck me was about BMWs variable speed steering. He says it "feels fantastic" when driving curvy roads but out on the highway it's does not want to track straight as an arrow. Constant little steering inputs are required . I have experience the same in my 2018 M3. Alignment is in spec. After talking to other people and reading forums apparently this is the nature of BMW cars in general. Strange...

Agree, my gf has a C300, and it does have some pickup, but compared to my M2, well, there is no comparison. The turbo inline six feels more substantial and has so much torque it just keeps pulling, whereas the Merc feels lightweight and no where near the torque. Yep, I know it's apples and oranges in every other comparison, but imho, having driven both, I agree the Turbo 4's leave much to be desired.

I hate to admit it but the steering wheel on the audi looks great, stood out to me. the BMW looks pretty dang good in those rolling shots also

I find the BMW B46 with at least 248HP to be far more pleasant and refined than the MB equivalent.

Let's be honest, most things are more refined and better thought out on the BMW than the Mercs. The ergonomics and usability for the driver in a C300 are horrendous! Needless to say, it will be her last MB. Considering a 440 GC, or a Macan Sport to replace it!

I sat inside an E400 convertible and the seating position vs the dash height is unsettling. Feels like driving a car from inside a bathtub.

I would argue the vw group ea888 from the golf r and the s3 is a gold standard for 4 cylinder motors... outside of apparent laggines bcuz its a 4; its the best example of a mass production turbo 4.

Not surprised at all... it's a little perplexing, how MB can be so consistently excellent when it comes to their Formula 1 racing presence, and be so hit or miss with their production cars!

But for the company that claims to have "invented" the modern automobile, they seem to struggle with the basic sauce formula..They can't make a decent manual transmission if they lives depended on it. Their 4 cyl engines sound and feel crappy and so on and so forth.

The one thing, in the video and that I do notice a lot is the 7 speed DSG is really really really good. I had the 8 ZF in the 328i and it was great, but DSG i want to say just does feel a tiny bit better. On the other hand... the dual clutch maintenance at 40k miles is like $750... Also I the new wheel in the A4 does look nice, but I will add that audi requires you to get the black optic package to even get it (the normal wheel doesnt have an S line badge, nor is it perforated). Also the new trapezoid tailpipes on the A4 are just as terrible looking as they look in the m340i. What is with this non circle tailpipe madness. I suppose at least they aren't completely fake like in the Q8 |

I think all of these cars are too big for my taste, but if I had to pick one, I'd go with the M340i because it comes with the inline 6 sound.
I had the opportunity to drive the new S4 and didn't find it particularly fun to drive. |

What I'm most concerned about was the one review that noted the M340 got the steering rack from the F30 unlike the 330 which got the updated and improved rack. It would suck if they made all those other improvements and missed out on the updated rack.

Although may not be bad. I've had 335 and now 340 and the new 340 steering feel is much better than 335.

I had an F30 335 6MT and to be honest, it was fine for me. Not as good as my F80 but for the street, I never really complained. I just noticed that unlike the F30 car reviews, the 330 has been getting much better feedback so I was disappointed to read that it didn't make its way into the M340.

its probably because both weigh considerably more than the 340 due to the AWD system yet from a standstill jump off the mark because of it. |

Great video, thanks for sharing OP.
My wife drives a 2018 S4, and the "step up" interior is beautiful in her car. The G20 interior is definitely an upgrade from the F3X, but I am also with the reviewer who said the gauge cluster in the G20 is a little too futuristic looking. Here's our car for reference: |
