Drive mode from start up

Apologies if this has been covered before, is there a way to set the car to start in a different mode to comfort? In my A4 I put it to whichever drive mode I wanted and it just stayed in that one unless I manually changed it. Ideally I'd like to have it in eco pro by default but can't see anything obvious within the menus

I believe you can code it to start up in any mode, but other than that no unfortunately.

Had a feeling that might be the case when I couldn't see anything obvious.

Yup. Like Burrcold said, you’ll need to get bimmercode at least to code it to start in another mode. I wish it would just remember the last mode like Audis did.

That would be the logical way to have made it work.

I don't really give it the beans and to be fair, it's got plenty of pull in eco pro mode. Sport is usually more a B road affair for me.

Can't you just push the Eco-pro button before you press start? They are virtually next to one another, I always select adaptive before hitting the start button.

I can, just wondered given my Audi's just stayed in the selected drive mode and didn't revert to a different one each time.

My old 320d Efficient dynamics always started up in eco pro, got in the habit of pressing it into comfort, as good as it was for what it was even comfort couldn't be called as swift.

The Audi modes aren’t quite the same as the BMW ones though. For instance, the Audi one doesn’t reduce the aircon use or reduce the throttle response. They just adjust the gearbox settings.

I'm surprised most BMWs don't start on ECO PRO by default, as surely the default start-up setting is how they measure the CO2s?

That’s a good point you would think so.

You can force a 330e to start in Electric mode (if there is enough battery) but that's the only option I've seen.

Agree, it's not the best set up, wouldn't be difficult to allow you to programme the initial mode settings and tie them to the personal key.
