Noise when turning wheel?

I recently noticed what I would describe as a creaking noise when turning the wheel at slow speeds and backing up. I had the dealership look at it and they said it's regular noise and do to the electronic power steering. Just curious if anyone else had noticed this? I have a 2022 330 with only 5K miles. I hadn't noticed this sound until now; maybe now that I heard it its just standing out more.

I have it also on my 19 330i. I have Dinan springs installed and sometimes think that may be part of it, but not 100% sure.

https://youtube.com/shorts/M_mVywb9848?feature=shareThanks for the response! I made this video. I did notice you can only hear the noise from inside the car; so thinking something with the steering column or something rubbing?

I have a noise but its more of a clunk that seems like it comes from the drivers front suspension. The dealer of course could not find anything. It only happens when in reverse and turning the wheel.

Oh my God! I thought I was the person who started this thread because your description sounds EXACTLY like how I described it to my wife!

Anyhow. I took the car in for the exact same issue and guess what. They said it was normal. But I'm inclined to believe them because my wife's X3 makes the exact same noise and her car only has 6000 miles on the clock. So yes.

Took it to another dealership and they said the same thing as the first one; it's the electric power steering causing noise. They agreed the sound is noticeable but said it's within acceptable spec from bmw. My loaner car was a new 230I for the day and it was completely quiet when turning. When I mentioned that the dealership said the 230I had a different brand of steering components that must be quieter.

Yup. I had a loaner 230i too and same. Quiet. But my 2021 X3 makes the exact same noise. Oh well. I guess I need to crank up the volume of the music playing in my car while backing up slowly and turning.

Just happened to see this post regarding a service bulletin for front end creaking. It looks like it includes G20; I'm hoping this may be the issue. Thinking of showing this bulletin next time I'm at the dealer for oil change?

Hi OP,

Did BMW end up doing the replacement as per the above bulletin for your car?

No they didn't; dealership still is just saying the noise is completely normal and won't do anything about it.

My car is at the shop today and I have a 2023 BMW 530I as a loaner vehicle. The steering on the 530I is completely quiet compared to my creaky/squeaky 330I. So annoying the dealership tells me the creaking is completely normal when the 530I is completely quiet.
