M340i dyno by Kies Motorsports

Did anyone else see their dyno on a basically stock M340i? Pretty impressive numbers albeit not surprising! 364 wheel hp and 385 wheel tq! Well over 400 crank for both hp and tq.

Pretty good numbers for only having a down pipe and "no tune"

The thing is, wheel torque is not that relevant because it can be manipulated by gearing. Watch engineering explain video. He talked about it in a Tesla roadster 10,000 nm wheel torque video.

I dynoed mine bone stock on Cali 91 gas and it put down 366whp and 369wtq.
Adding 1 can of octane booster took it to 372whp and 385wtq on same dyno without unstrapping the car from the rollers.
This motor has plenty of kick.

Either way, the whp numbers are impressive enough. For a car that's rated (or underrated) by BMW at 382 hp but is definitely making more than 400 hp at the crank (stock) is amazing. Now for bragging rights I wish BMW would just post the actual hp numbers and not underrate everything LOL

Is there a difference in whp between the XDrive and RWD M340?

There's definitely a bit more drivetrain loss with xDrive, but it's mostly made up for with being able to put power to the ground (hence the xDrive's quicker 0 to 60 times). 40 to 120 the RWD should be a bit quicker unless it's losing traction...this is all assuming straight line performance.

Yeah xdrive is definitely more efficient at putting the power down from a stop.

Just curious about the difference in whp

Does downpipe add any hp?

It could be even or as much as a 5% crank difference. Because the straight line numbers favor the xDrive, I'm going to assume that there's not much drive train loss with the xDrive compared to the RWD.

Not much from what I've seen. Maybe 5-10 crank hp? Even without it, the M340i is still putting down 400+ hp no doubt.

AWE sent our G20 development car down the rolling 1/4 mile from a 30-roll for our Flying 1/4 mile testing. I can't give you the exact mph yet, but it beat the A90 Supra and was knocking on the door of the Camaro SS1LE and Charger 392. Both of those cars are claimed to have nearly 100 more crank HP. Our car was stock tune, X-Drive with our Touring Edition system on it. (That does add some actual HP, but all cars we test have an AWE system.)

Down pipe when not tuned adds a good 15hp when tuned and takes advantage of it it can be as high as 30hp plus whatever the flash gives you which can be as high as 100hp on a E50 tune
