Silly me. The noise I have been hearing coming from the A pillar was in fact coming from my water bottle sitting in the driver's door. I've removed it and now I drive in peace.

Sorry for late response. I have located the noise to the dashboard display, if I press the left side of the display or the plastic the noise stops. See attached image (not my car, but same type of display). |

Had my 3 rattles fixed today in the UK. Glovebox rattle required removal and padding out on the left hand side, rear boot rattle required the rubber/fabric acoustic strip removing from the rear window, and the front door rattle required removing the door card and adjusting the window regulator & padding.
I fixed the centre speaker rattle myself with the posted fix of removing the cover and adding sound deadening tape to the plastic tabs. Car now has some VERY minor rattles remaining, but is pretty much silent despite having M-Sport Adaptive suspension and 19” run flat rims. |

I had the same rattle. I fixed it by wedging a bit of felt in between the housing and the display. As you press the display your will notice there is a gap that forms of 2-3mm, this is what causes the rattle.

My car developed this and it appears to come from the hard bit of plastic right at the back of the parcel shelf between the rear glass and the parcel shelf. If you reach up the back and wiggle it around you can hear a squeak. The hard bit of plastic appears to be a bit loose. The sound is like a squeak when driving down a drive a driveway or turning at slow speeds and on a bit of a gradient. I inserted some rubber padding between the glass and the plastic trim to make the hard part of the plastic tight so it does not have any move to move and the squeak is gone! |

Yep. I'm taking it in tomorrow because it's gotten even worse.

I think the shadowline trim is 100% made of plastic. A relative has an older x5 and its 100% solid as the shadowline is actually made of solid metal and coated in black plastic and it does not creak at all. |

I have noticed the rattle over the past few days and came here hoping for an answer. Sounds like the noise is coming from the area where the rear deck meets the rear windshield. I am going to look at this sometime this week and hope it goes away,.

My right side mirror makes this rattle noise when I close it. It annoys me every time! Here is a video - . I suspect there is creaking also from the plastic cover of the rear brake light on the ceiling. It creaks just when I am about to forget about it and it annoys me to no ends...

So I have an intermittent rattle that sounds more like a chirp or cricket sound almost every morning when starting the car until the car reaches running temp. It literally sounds like a cricket is in the car. Sometimes it's barely noticeable (Not too frequent or loud) and other times it's quite noticeable (More frequent and louder). I have been unable to pinpoint the location. It almost seems to be in the drivers footwell area or the area below the dashboard somewhere.
What's driving me insane is that it's present only until the car reaches running temperature. After that it is not present for the entire rest of the day. Completely quiet even on the roughest roads. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this. Someone in a previous thread said it was a "normal" transmission sound. |
