Agree. I live in Texas where they won't pull you over solely for not having a front license plate...but if they pull you over for something else they will also add on a ticket for no front plate. Well worth it in my opinion!

Well, BMW doing that enlarged grill to sniff-out the competition just gave me a hint to save money for once.

Maybe once it comes out, I may adore its rear and lights at the very least, but most likely I will be keeping my M3CS for the next 3yrs!! Thanks BMW..

But then again, never say never.. Like what the OP mentioned, it might sway my opinion towards liking it but I have a steep learning curve especially on cars and may still despise it. :

Basically, "you will learn to love it" statement. Not exactly what I could call "nailing it" lol. This is still a very sad low moment for BMW when we have to learn to love their design of a signature M car.

Agree about the seeing in person thing but...

I agree with everything you say about the design and seeing it in the flesh but just can’t shake the feeling that this is yet another missed opportunity to do something special with a brand icon.

« Growing on me », « I hate it less and less », « I learned to like it », etc.
This is not the feelings that should inspire you the look of a 100k$ sport car, IMO. It should be love at first sight, period.

Agreed. The only thing these feelings inspire is paying $15k under MSRP.

I have a deposit placed, but will be waiting for the competition/X-Drive. I’m sweating less now, thanks. Do you feel there are too many unnecessary design lines/creases that it takes away from the natural beauty, or ‘flow’ of the car? Currently in an F82 Competition

well said how can you learn to like something? what does that sentence even mean. is it like trying to stomach a salty steak by taking small slow bites and pretend to like it ? It is a fallacy and idiotic to have to "force" yourself to like something you don't. love is for the heart and it's either there or not.

It’s nothing like the M5 where you really have to know what an M car is to see the difference. The back is where they stepped it up. I think it's perfect and also aggressive AF, and with some perf goodies it will be insane.

Grtz

you said it right, in your face in an obnoxious way seems to be BMW's new design language. What about those of us who do not want "in your face" ? should we move on?

I guess there are two possibilities

- we are a minority and most people want an obnoxious in your face BMW. sales will boom and the haters will go buy something else. end of the story.

- BMW fu**** themselves in the middle of pandemic driven recession..sales will drop even more and they will lose revenue, R&D money, re-org's and layoff will come. They will go down the same path Infiniti did.... with new EV's taking market share there will be casualties and these guys could be them....

time will tell

Erind, which render of the front bonnet line (ie disregarding the back of the touring) is more accurate? Pls see bonnet line of image of white car above vs red car below with straight bonnet line taken from https://www.bmwblog.com/2020/08/13/b...tely-rendered/

Have you confirmed that you’ll be allowed to take phones and cameras into the event? Not that those rules can’t or won’t be broken if they are in effect - it has happened in the past.

Hi

I could not see the difference between the 2 pictures. I'm sorry but from what I've seen the render of the white car is pretty much accurate.

My views maybe irrelevant. I'm sorry I'm not that technical with the lines and everything. I'm just trying to share my opinion of the car. I don't have the pics to double check that for you as he handed me his phone. I'm also pretty sure that the same car will be at the event next month in Belgium

I have a B58 with MPPSK which I consider the best sounding iteration of the turbo I6s. I am hoping the M3/M4 S58 is an improvement on that.
The sound that I heard was on a short video of the M3 revving. Not a cold start. I don't think the car sounds better than the f8x series.
