Looks good with the German License plate. It seems like it needs a long license plate to break up that big grill. A US plate won't do and no plate, hmmm.....I'll wait until I see it in person before making any more calls on the looks.

Need the official unveil and in person videos to really decide.. its gone from a HARD no to a ... maybe - in a way, I like that the grills help differentiate the m3 from a 320i. We shall see!

Call me cynical but I remember a time where cars were just built well. I don't remember anyone having to let the E46 or E92 M3 "grow on them". I don't remember them being deplorably ugly and an entire community split down the middle between "I hate it"s and "I hate it but it's growing on me". They just looked good... and they still do.

I hate to say it, because I have loved BMWs since the 90s, but the other brands are just doing it better. I read an interview where one of the head designers at BMW essentially said he didn't see the significance of keeping traditional design elements. (Corona rings, the kink, etc) You can really see that in 2021 models (Aside from the LCI 5er which isn't too bad, but mark my words the next gen 5er is gonna be an ugly one)

I hated the F8x at the beginning and still not a fan of the grill touching the lights...

I was interested to see two different M3s, one still had the camo on the grill and also 'regular' door mirrors, while the one with the exposed 'tall' grill had the M specific winged mirror housings. I've seen this in some of the earlier photos too.

There was a CAR magazine article that mentioned the 'Pure' (as it was apprently referred to internally by BMW) and Competition versions would have differences such as wheels and bumper designs.

I know they've already talked about base 18" and option 19" wheels, but could this just be two different mules at different stages of development/production finalisation or are the mirrors another thing BMW will use to distinguish between 'base' and Competition versions (I hope not)?

You think?

I was just about to post that I didn't hear much differentiation between the G80 and my old F80...

I honestly get what you're saying, it seems to me that BMW is trending toward a total new way of design and concepts and would like to start something completely new. Whether that new pans out remains to be seen...
