Recently I have found ASD Menu activation in Idrive.
You can change the sound density with it.
I use Bimmercode.
Headunit -- 3000 HMI --- DISPLAY_CONFIGURABILITY_ENGINE_SOUND

Yes sure. I have activated ASD from RAM unit. My car has option. So it's useful for me and cars with asd.

The Engine Sound menu doesn't modify ASD sound. It opens the exhaust flap permanently in comfort and adaptive mode. Start the car in comfort, wait for the engine to heat, and select sporty, and you will hear the exhaust flap open. In Eco, the flap stays closed with every option from the Engine sound.

It depends on ASD too. In my car, the exhaust valves are always open. And ASD is enabled. I can make out the difference when I change the settings.

Is there a way for it to remember the last setting? That would be the holy grail.

No sir. I haven't figured it out yet. Which reminds me. I'll check our X3 to see if it remembers. The 2021 X3s have it but I forgot to mess around with it.

Dose this change the ASD sound level inside the car? Or change the actual sound that heard from outside?

Seems to be both. If I leave it in Sporty, the exhaust flap remains open in Comfort mode. It also remembers it after the ignition is switched off.

Wait. In your car, it remembers which mode you set the engine sound in even after you turn the car off completely and then back on? Did you change any other setting in BC? In my car, it doesn't (seems to be the case with many others too). It resets to the default setting once I turn it off completely and then back on.

Yes it does. After reading the comments, I expected it to reset and programmed one of the 8 shortcut buttons to the Engine Sound menu

I set it to Sporty several days ago and have been out everyday since and its remained in Sporty.

I used EsysX to make these changes:

HU_MGU
- CAFD_00003E52
- DISPLAY_MENU_CONFIGURATION_ENGINE_SOUND - Ausgelesen = enabled (was disabled)
- DISPLAY_CONFIGURABILITY_ENGINE_SOUND - Ausgelesen = aktiv (was nicht_aktiv)

Strange. Anyone else in the UK applied this and found it to stick? Mine is a March 2020 build on 11/2020.50.

Does this actually work on a 330 or is it only applicable to the 340. I know that in the X5 G05 it only works bigger 50i engine and not the 40i.

Reports here from 330i owners says it works (after coding but with no memory). My european M440i 2021 has the menu available from factory SW from March -21, with memory. I can tell both visually and audibly that the Sporty setting opens the flap in the right side exhaust. In the balanced setting it closed the flap (at least at idle) but the external sound also changed somewhat, so my conclusion is that the menu settings changes, not only the flap and some added sound through the rear speakers, but also the engine control (at lift off etc).

I assume, if 330i (but maybe only M-sport) also has the exhaust flap it should work?

G20 ASD activation need FSC Code for RAM.
(maybe need change the booster)
If not have ASD in your car, engine sound menu control only exhaust flap.

330i, 330e, M340i has ASD & Flap.
320i has Flap.
320d has not anyone.

Coded the Sound menu and I did notice a difference. However, after coding the Sport Plus I don't think you'd need this. Suggest that if you haven't coded Sport Plus that you do so. I even got some burbles on the downshift. Let's see if my daughter notices what I did to her car.
