Authorised repairer

Anyone know what that is? In my lease agreement (Alphabet) it says: "You must have the Vehicle serviced and repaired by one of the Vehicle manufacturer's franchised retailers or authorised
repairers"

What's an authorised repairer? I'm guessing there's no such thing other than a franchised dealer?

Sometimes there are garages that are authorised for repairs but don’t sell new cars. For example there’s a place near me which is a main dealer for Citroen, but they are also authorised by Fiat for repairs and servicing only, not sales.

I can’t imagine there’s many like that in the BMW franchise network, though.

A lot of lease companies have a selection of garages around the country that they consider "approved" to work on there cars.. These can be any form of garage like Kwik Fit, Halfords Autocentres or just an independent garage, i.e Joe Bloggs Garage

Be aware these are "Approved" by the lease company NOT the Manufacture

If you speak to the lease company they will say who is there approved garage in your area, we deal with a few, a local garage we deal with has two accounts, one for his own work and one for Leaseplan work, this is for servicing and repairs

Authorised repairers will refer to body shops - the conflict there is your insurance company will also have a list of authorised repairers that may differ.

I think Kwik-fit are for fleet/business leases only. The statement is you must use a franchised dealer i.e BMW for servicing.

Does not necessarily mean that, see above... Most Lease companies have a selection of garages they consider "approved" to do work on there cars..
