The G20 interior is striking
Whilst waiting for my g30 to be fixed (the cubby box under the steering wheel). I entered almost all the cars in the dealership. It was very clear the interior of the G series of cars is far more attractive, modern and sleek than F series. The difference is very pronounced between F32/36/38 and G20 series. I believe the difference in the interior quality is enough to take the g20 over the F series. Just an opinion

Just speaking from personal opinion here - the interior in the G20 is one of the main reasons I bought a new one over a nearly new and cheaper 6th gen. We looked at a lot of cars before we bought a g20 and by far the best interior in its class for me (closely followed by the facelift jag XE r dynamic) I also love the twin exhausts on the g20 too

I didn't refute his opinion. I wasn't even negative towards him. He is entitled to it, just like everybody else on this forum who has an opinion.....including me. Don't police me as if you've never disagreed with something on this forum and were vocal about it. I don't have to circle jerk every post.

I'm coming from a F30, had a eu G20 for two weeks now. I very much like the tech and materials used. I like the design, I think it's more sporty for lack of a better word. I like the mood lighting and general look of the whole dashboard and doors. I'm glad I added the galvanized controls option, I don't like the plain black controls in the doors and on the steering wheel too much.
I'm somewhat disappointed about the virtual cockpit, the mirrored rev counter and lack of customisation of the instrument cluster. I'm missing my net and second grocery hook in the trunk, and feel like there is less room to put stuff into, in the cickpit (for example little nets at the knee level and some space somewhere to put your key without having to open something) and the trunk with it's lonely single grocery hook, making me decide which bag to secure and which one to possibly let spill. |

In my opinion, I think the dash materials in the F-Series 340 seem to be of higher quality. The G20 trim in my 330i loaner seemed cheap to me. The seats in the G are noticeably improved, but I hate the headrest design and the ergonomics of the movement. The dash/Live Cockpit in the G20 is “better” IF we’re speaking from a purely technological standpoint. I prefer analog gauges or at least a digital/analog hybrid. The steering wheel feels robust, but I like the design of the previous wheels better. Driving position is better in the G20 for my body. It’s annoying that the regular USB port is only accessible with the tray lid up. Overall the improvements are there, but they are incremental improvements.

During 2016, I knew the new and modern technology will come many leaks and cammos photos, I patiently waited for 3+ years to purchase the new G20 3 series.
As soon as Launch press and photos/videos on Oct 2, 2018, I decided to move forward with the purchase early 2019. The design is much welcomed after dated 7 year old F30 interior and exterior. -modern, fresh, trendsetting, BMW idrive is fast and snappy like our modern smartphones. -Hofmeister kink design language is present throughout the interior vehicle and exterior, well layout I was sold. |

I am now on my 3rd 5 series; 2xF10 and now G30. That's not because I needed a car that size (came out of S4), but simply because I couldn't stand the interior and archaic tech of the previous 3 series. It was a joke at that price point, especially when lined up against Audi and Benz. Finally, BMW has a 3 series with the interior that can compete with the other two Germans.

I have an 2017 330ix and when I sat in the M340ix last week the interior really struck me. I thought wow! I am now waiting for mine to arrive probably early December. Portimao/Cognac/Mesh, loaded.

IMO, the interior of the F30 is crap. The G20 interior is miles better than the F30 and now competitive with Audi and MB.
Once people with F30/F80 cars replace them with G20/G80s, you'll see more consensus. |

I don’t ever think I will be fully on board with the G-Series dash, but I accept that if I want the new M4, I’ll have to live with it.

But IMO, the interior is a step up from the F30 but it should be since it's newer. I wouldn't call it striking either, but simply an improvement. |

I cross-shopped a B8.5 S5 and a F32 435i during the 2014/2015 model year. One of the reasons I selected the S5 for purchase was that, in my opinion, its interior seemed to be constructed of much higher-quality materials.

Honestly I had no problems with the interior of my F30.
Sure it's not as clean and modern as the A4 interior or as striking as the C-class interior but it was a pretty decent interior, especially for a design that came out in 2011. The quality of the materials were great on the F30 especially compared to the C-Class or most asian or american luxury models in the price range. Most of it was soft touch plastics with just the lower center console and the lower dash being hard plastics. The leather, while I wasn't a fan of the texture, still looks like it came from the factory after 3 years of use. The design is really where the new G20 steps up from the F30 however. I was fine with how the F30 interior looked until I saw a G20 in person and now I see how dated the older model looks.

same reason I couldn't bring myself to buy the M4 over the new 330i even though used + new is roughly the same price. Got a great deal off the 330i after rebates though, bout 17%, so the M4 would've been a little more expensive too.
