Here is another data point..

I got 50% Suntek CIR tints installed all around last week and have not noticed any erroneous dimming of the inside screens.

You can code the same thing with G20.

Why code? On the E90 this was just an idrive setting..

I got an appointment Thursday morning, there going to see if they can adjust the sensitivity of the sensor, I got 18% on front and 5% on rear, I found it's been helping if I keep the sun roof shade open to allow some light in, if not just opening the window a little bit helps to

Because on newer IDrive systems, there is not a way to adjust Rain Light Sensor through UI.

So just got my car back... they said they went into the ECU and turned the sensitivity down..... than they updated it so I'm guessing it went back to its default parameters?? Anyways after having my car gone all day nothing really changed... here you go nice to know tho my software was corrupted lol

Does not necessarily mean your software was corrupted. Service has to put something down in order to get reimbursed for work.

It looks like they ran diagnostic procedure rather than making coding changes.

It would have gone back to factory values, unless HO-wort was added.

If this is what they changed, you can change too.

I've had my tint installed for about 2 weeks now and haven't notice any dimming. The tint on my car is Llumar formula one pinnacle ceramic tint. All glass except windshield have 25% tint. I'm not sure if this can help but there's a scroll on the right side of all the lighting switches that can dim or lighten your displays. My headlights are also on auto just in case anyone want to know. The tinting place said that different films could cause the dimming, but the one I had it advertised that it wouldn't interfere. Hope it helps!

I tried increasing the brightness with the little dial next to the head light switch and that did nothing. I also tried increasing the brightness through the display settings and that also did nothing. Also couldn't find any auto-dim feature in the settings that I could disable.

Per the enclosed image, I think the auto-dim sensor is in this black portion next to the speedometer because when I put my hand over it, it dims everything and when I take my hand off, everything brightens up again.

Do you know if there's any way to turn off this auto-dim feature for the displays whether it be through a setting or coding? I imagine other owners who are tinting their windows are having the same issue?

Thanks in advance, guys!
Well, I live in Brazil.

Besides being a tropical country, this is not the safest place in the world to own a 65k USD car (which is the price for it in our money), so window tinting is pretty much mandatory, and eve though we have strict laws for it they are barely ever enforced.

As you can see in the picture, i use VERY dark window tinting, 4% transparency on my side windows and 35% on the windshield.
I never had a single problem with the dimming in any of my screens. Check your local dealer!

From what I've read, you'll have to go to the dealership and have them set the adjustment for you so it isn't as sensitive as it is now.

Well, if the dealer can do it, I'm sure we can figure out a way for us to do it ourselves.

Thanks!

I'm sure you probably can, but the quickest route would be just tell the dealer to adjust it for you since it doesn't look like anyone knows the coding for it right now. Figured you'd want it taken care of quick rather than wait and test out the coding.

If dealership really can fix, it is one of these things:
1) Flash programming to different software level. There would be SIB.
2) VO Coding with HO-wort
3) ISTA+ procedure.
