Why is the Cognac Vernasca interior so popular?

Following the photos and posts, I'm curious why do you think that the Cognac Vernasca Interior seem to be popular compared to other interior colours: Black; Black with blue Contrast Stitching; Osyter with black stitching?

I have Black with Blue stitching which was my second choice and it looks sharp (will post pics later).

I really like the look of the Mocha Vernasca Leather when I saw it, however when I was ready to make the purchase it was no longer available with the specs I wanted.

Cognac is too light/orange-ish for my personal preference and I don't care much for the two-toned dash/interior that comes along with it. That said- others seem to like it a lot as it is a a popular choice on this forum.

Just guessing, because it’s darker than oyster (too light for many, difficult to keep clean) and because it’s lighter than black or mocha, which I think make the interior feel a little cave-like.

Cognac is the color I would choose, because I like its color and because it goes well with Sunset Orange, which is the exterior color I would choose.

I have always loved the Cognac and the closer variations over the years. Only reason I haven't had it in the past is because I wanted the Superman combo. Now I'm getting Sunset Orange and Cognac clashes so I'm going with the Oyster.

I just posted my response and saw yours. Difference of opinions!

We can both agree on not liking dark interiors though. Like you said, makes you feel like you're in a cave. Also makes the car an oven in the summer.

Post pics of your car though. I'd love to see how it looks. Actually, you may have already in the thread I started about SO. Just pulled the trigger on it on Saturday... can't wait to see it in person!

Yeah I think it's just different tastes. I love the Cognac. Especially with white metallic exterior. I've had black interior. It's sporty I guess. But I find a light interior brightens things up. Less cave like I guess is a good term. On the other hand my wife hates Cognac interiors. No clue why.

I have Cognac interior on my 2016 340i XDrive with black exterior. So a really nice contrast.

However, on my M340i XDrive I'm going with P. Blue exterior and black with blue stitching.

I did not repeat the Cognac because after 3 years you can really start to see the age with Cognac. It just shows more dirt and picks up blue jean dye more than the black. I cant imagine Oyster.

So with a lighter exterior color like P. Blue...I think I'll have a good balance. Going with metal interior trim to lighten things up against the black leather.

If I were going with black or Grey paint would probably stick with Cognac.

You can never go wrong with the Black/Blue interior. But I am tempted to go a lighter color as well for my next build. It does liven up the interior a bit. Was the Cognac really picking up that much dye?

And to make it even more difficult with the launch of the 330d/e BMW now has the individual Tartufo colored Merino available as well.

I've never been a Brown leather interior kinda guy but I dunno this just looks so good to me. I really need to find a dealer that has this on the lot to go check it out!

Interesting pics, I have ordered mine with Black full Merino, but always thought the lower dash was not going to be leather in the G20 (only upper dashboard and upper door frames). Looking at those pics it seems like the lower dash is wrapped in leather as well (like other BMW models).

Nice. Definitely post pics of that when you have it delivered!

From what I could gather from the configurator you have 2 choices
  • Individual Merino
  • Individual Merino Full Extended

Once you select Full Extended the lower part changes to the same color for the Tartufo instead of black. Just can't see the difference of the black on black in the configurator I guess.
And it also affects if the Dash is leather or sensatec wrapped I believe.

I would have thought the Mocha would be most popular.

I've got black with blue stitching and couldn't be happier!

I liked cogniac in pictures, but in person I wasn't a fan. Especially on the dash pieces. Maybe if it wasn't on there I would have liked it more ...

I also feel this car needs a sportier interior and less of a "luxury" interior. Black with blue stitching fits that well.

I am getting the cognac seats in mine. I think they make the interior look more luxurious and I love the contrast of the black dash and doors against the cognac seats.

Like others have said, I do wish the lower part of the dash was black instead of cognac. The color looks really good on leather, not so much on plastic

Beats me 🤷🏻*♂️. I think the mocha is the most attractive.

But different strokes for different folks.

Agreed 100%! My first F30 had coral red ( I received many compliments on this one ) and I loved it! My second F30 had Black interior and my current G20'also black with blue stitching... but I love the look of Mocha!

Same here! I'll be getting my car in only a couple of weeks and Mocha it is!

I'm not a fan of black inteiors. I want some color so I like red, brown, or cream. I loved the color combo on my Alpine White over Saddle Brown E90 335i M Sport. I think Cognac is very similar to Saddle Brown.

I guess it all comes down to preference.. I personally love the sharpness of a black interior, and the silver touches really contrast nice, here's mine

I went with Black with aluminum because Mocha with open pore grain was not available but I'm happy with it. I prefer the darker colors.. they wear/age better and give off a more private, cosy ambiance.

I ordered Sapphire Black over mocha, but looking at pictures on this board, I think Mocha is too dark, last car had black and I want the M340 non black to differentiate it from sensatec, oyster too light, that leaves cognac. I dis some research and is similar to saddle that I had on an E92 and I love that color, I also had natural brown on a 2008 E60, and cinnamon on two cars, so cognac is close , I asked my dealer to switch order to cognac, is more alive than mocha and a better contrast for Black.

I love the cogniac seats but the dash does not look good with cogniac by the memory buttons. It looks very plain and cheap. I wish the dash was black.

After a black interior F30 340i and two F80's in black I'm itching for color. My F30 328i in Coral Red was to me the best of both worlds. Both sporty AND luxurious.

Go for the cognac, yes, it would look better with lower dash in black, but is not too bad
Is a rich color, good contrast
