Where can I rent a G20?

I have a hard time making car decisions based on test drives. I don't find thirty minutes to an hour to be long enough to find out if a car is comfortable, fun, its quirks, etc.

Anybody know of any place that is renting 2019+ 3 series yet? I know places like Enterprise tend to run cars that are a few years old so I doubt they'd be running 2019s yet. I’m trying to figure out how I can drive one of the G20 3 Series cars for a couple days to a week.

I work for Enterprise and they have the new 3 series. You just have to find one or ask a rep if they can find one.

That's great news. I hope they have it around my area. I will ask around and find out.

Just rented a 330i from Enterprise for a long drive through Florida. Now I can't wait for my 540i lease to be up to "downgrade" to this more nimble car and its superior technology.

You can try Turo also to see if anyone is renting theirs out in your area

i went in to buy the 2019 540i and walked out with a 2020 M340i.

Just looked like a more modern car.

I don't think you'll be the only one who does this. I like my 540i but there is no escaping the feeling of driving a mini 7 Series. The new G20 brings back the BMW feel I missed with the F30, but finally with a decent interior. The seats are the only letdown and I even didn't mind the 4 cylinder, which averaged 41 MPG on my trip.

I actually own a 7 series now and will sell it and get M340 next year. Tired of driving a big car and the 340 felt like my 98 528I I owned a while back. Cant wait to get it and I leave my 7 in the garage mostly and drive my X5 or wife's vert.

Unfortunately I have to agree with you here... I don't find the seats comfortable at all. Good thing the rest of the car is amazing to offset how uncomfortable the seats are.

Wish merino leather was an option here in the states on the 3 series, don't think I can justify spending $5k and waiting 6-8 months to add that option into a US spec car. My X5 has merino leather seats and they're among the most comfortable of any car I've owned (including Lexus)

this is actually why i want to do an extended test drive / rent. on my test drives i found the seats somewhat uncomfortable and i don't know if the fun of the car on a daily basis will make up for that.

The 3 series out there for rent are 200% garbage to drive. spec'ed with nothing.

Didn't certain BMW dealers used to let you take a car home for a couple days to test it out before deciding? Do they not do that anymore?

I'm not surprised if this is true, why would they spec out a car when most people won't care. I doubt it will have any options and one thing that could be an issue is if it doesn't have the sport seats (and why would it) because that's what I'm trying to evaluate

This kind of spoils it for me though. I feel bad taking home a car for a few days that I really am not sure about. And there's the added pressure of "I have 1 day / 2 days / 3 days to decide". A rental would be pressure free.

Ask them to give you one of their loaners for a few days.

I hear you there... I'd probably have a similar sense of guilt if I took a car home and then decided I didn't want it.

Someone earlier posted about Turo, maybe give that a try? I've rented an M3 in the past using that and it worked out well.

Still would feel guilty about not buying. I know it's a business transaction and all, but I just think I'd feel bad.

Unfortunately my city is very small and Turo is basically useless for me. There are some Honda Civics and that's about it.

They charge $150 a day for the loaner if you don't return it in 24 hours after your car is ready, so if you don't have a car in for service they would just charge you that per day. Not sure if they would do it though. Otherwise you can try Enterprise exotics or wait for the closest UDE and test drive it then or the m town tour but those are only short test drives. There is also the BMW subscription program that pays for insurance and maintenance but it is expensive. It is at accessbybmw.com

Huh. Access By BMW looks really interesting actually. Yes it's expensive but it would be totally worth it to do it for a month or two, try a few differs models.
