Advanced Parking Assist safe?

Just curious on how many of you think that the Advanced Parking Assist is not safe? I am really on the fence and most of the time I get scared that the car will hit another car. On top of this... The day I picked up my car the BMW genius told me that someone was trying the feature at the dealership and the car did not stop on itself so it hit another parked car...

You always have full control of the brakes, its still your responsibility to watch surroundings and stop if needed.

I have to say BMWs implementation is one of the better ones I've experienced, I find myself using the feature more often than expected.

True, but sometime I am really not sure if I should hit the brake or let go the brake afraid that my car will hit another car.

Also can someone tell me if I can park into my spot if the layout looks like this?

I have had a great experience with it. The car needs to recognize the parking spot so it can park in it. In your diagram with the car in front being offset, I just don't know if it will recognize that as a spot or not...

I think there is a kinda "worry" that if one of the cameras used to "see" has a spec of. dirt, moisture, or lighting is bad; can cause this to be unsafe feature as well... Its interesting, I wouldn't fully trust this feature too much but I would try it out and test it alot before really feeling comfortable with it.

It's an assistant...if you treat it like that, you'll be fine.

Don't really use it but your foot should always be resting on the brake and you should still be read to take control at all times. That goes with all such auto systems.

I’ve found that the parking assistant often doesn’t “find” obvious spots...
