M340i Wheel + Tires Setup Advice for Summer and Winter
Hi!
So my M340i xDrive came with the 791M 19" "square" wheel set up (19x8" ET 27), paired with Bridgestone Turanza LS100 A RFT tires (225/40R19). I immediately ordered two 791M 19x8.5" ET 40 wheels for a staggered OEM wheel set up, along with four Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires (225/40R19s for the fronts and 255/35R19s for the rears). So now I have 2 extra 791M 19x8" ET 27 wheels, with the 225/40R19 RFT tires they came with, and trying to figure out my game plan for winter wheels/tires and a spare. Here's what I'm thinking. Option 1: - Buy 3 more 791M 19X8 ET 27 wheels with dedicated winter tires 225/40R19 - Use 1 of my extra 791M 19x8 ET 27 wheels to complete the winter set up (I'd get the same winter tire on it) - Use the 2nd extra 791M 19x8 ET 27 wheel as a full-sized spare, keeping the RFT on there (I can use this as for summer and winter, as the RFT is a Grand Touring All-Season, and it's a spare) Option 2: - Buy a dedicated winter wheel + tire set, like this one here: https://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/6...EL----TIRE-SET - Sell one 791M and keep the other as a full-sized spare with the RFT The cost will be close to the same. The advantage of "Option 1" is that my car will have the same look winter or summer, and I like the wheels. Also in "Option 1" I can choose my winter tires to be non-RFT. The package in the link has RFTs. How important is a full-sized spare? I would take it on long trips - my trunk is usually empty anyway. Since I have it, why not use it? Thoughts? Other options or ideas? Thanks! |

Since I'm getting ZTK pkg I'm doing option #2 w/ my M440i.
More sidewall on the winter set should help with rough road surface during winter.

Did you get the space saver spare option along with the ZTK? I worry about just having a compressor and sealant, which is why I'm keeping a 791M wheel on hand as a full-sized spare on longer trips.

Unfortunately only the mobility kit due to ZTK brake size so the smallest wheel diameter would be 18" while I think the space saver spare is 17"
