Bumpstops needed ?
Recently bought a 2020 m340xi non adaptive suspension and I want to go with H&R springs. Can I cut my stock bumpstops or what are my options ?

I'm interested in this as well regarding the Dinan bump stops. I have H&R springs but haven't installed them yet. Curious if they would work with them.

I used the Dinan stops with my Cobra suspension and they have been fine. The drop is slightly less than the H&R (may 1/4 inch less with Cobra) but its probably okay. I do know that Dinan has one of the less aggressive drops but their bump stops seem pretty versatile.

You can cut your stock bumpstops but if you want to go back to stock springs, it might be a problem. I lowered my previous car on lowering springs and cut the stock bumpstop since that was what was recommended and I had no issues. I turned the car in on the lowering springs so it was all good.

From Dinan, "Bumpstops are carefully tuned for use with Dinan springs."
Might not be a bad idea to contact them and confirm they can be used with H&R.

You're awesome, thank you! Did you install both at the same time? Was curious if anyone could attest to the ride quality difference between H&R springs with and without the bumpstops. It's interesting that Dinan's site lists the product as this, "DINAN SUPPLEMENTAL RIDE QUALITY & HANDLING KIT - 2019-2022 BMW 330I (RWD & XDRIVE) / M340I (RWD) / M440I (XDRIVE)", where it only indicates xDrive for the 330i.

I know, the issue is that Dinan doesn't "support" the M340i xDrive. There's other threads in this subform where they state that they haven't been able to get an M340i xDrive into their shop in order to develop springs. So, since the springs aren't available, I assume they are playing it safe by not listing the bump stops as M340i xDrive compatible.
Yes, I had the bump stops installed at the same time as the springs (I assume it would be cheaper to do it that way). |
