As the title is written. Looking for buying strategies for a 1-3 year old R1250 GS Adventure. What to look out for, best regions in the country to find this bike, the usual stuff.

Make sure you need the bigger fuel tank on the Adventure over the GS. Lots of plastic cladding on the Adventure, maintenance cost (valve adjustment, shaft drive needs maintenance but not as often as a chain), brake caliper recall, Harley Pan America.

The fully optioned out bikes seem to be the way to go. Lowered Suspension ?,

Does anyone have an opinion comparing the Ducati Multistrada V4 vs the BMW R1250GSA?

Seems the Ducati doesn’t come with factory options for three rear bags like the BMW. What about reliability between the two makers? Surprised how many of both of these models are available for sale, maybe the market is softening?

The bike would be used for off roading (gravel roads) in CO, UT, AZ and NM.

All I can personally tell you, is that the Beemer is a lot easier and cheaper to maintain. I do most of mine by myself.

Two vids by the same reviewer.

Is it going to be used primarily for off road gravel, or just the odd time. I ask, because I think the smaller GS does that a lot better. The 1250GS is HEAVY, like all the BIG adventure touring bikes. They are not fun to pick back up when they go over.
I personally use an older 650gs twin for my adventure touring, It’s about 125lbs lighter, and runs regular gas. Much less power, but more than acceptable.
