The M5 and M6 have been using the recycled X5M motor for two generations now. Just a matter of time until the same happened to the M3.

weird!! the muffler seems a little low! maybe to accommodate a Battery for a Hybrid power train???:

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, LET'S HOPE NOT!!!!!

I know the most logical thing is that the G80 will use the same power train of the F90 (except the engine, of course, S58 on G80!!)

Because I havenÂ’t enjoyed ZF autos?

The ones IÂ’ve driven have felt sluggish (from the perspective of the transmission response) in comparison with my last two cars, a 981 with PDK, and my F80 with DCT.

Not sure an opinion has anything to do with my skill as a driver.
I think he was making a joke about needing to learn how to drive manual.

With CLAR, I really think that the next generation of BMWs could take a big jump in performance.

I also think that they could really achieve significant weight savings. That is probably the reason for bringing back the CSL moniker.

Still question the 6 MT bit. I hope we get it but do not think we will.

My dream M3 would have secondary electric power in the front wheels for fast starts and acceleration ou of turns. Of course, weight would/does matter. I don’t give a shit on transmission as long as it blends well with the car.

Bmw should either vomit to AWD or RWD IMO. They don't need all these options.

M5 is getting good reviews do they should use that and keep an 400hp M2 around!

RIP M-DCT?

Let's have a toast for BMW M-DCT. The slippery slope.

Expect to see incandescent tail lights and whatnot, then LCI 1.5 years later.

Not sure why some are upset by the parts bin sharing, if it works well and the car feels special, then I don't care where it came from. Besides, there are tons of advantages for both the end user and the manufacturer when they share the same drivetrain across several models
What's the advantage for the end user?

People have been dramatic about it but I still strongly stick by my statement that the f80 is heavily held back by traction issues. The response: "learn to properly modulate throttle" is the classic, but the fact is with how heavily you have to modulate throttle on these cars to keep the tires sticking you aren't accessing the power that you've got.

Just improving traction (hopefully without much new weight) would add real performance to the next gen. If its sniffing 500hp with mxdrive.... this car will be a blast.
Bro even in F1 cars you have to modulate throttle. Not too many awd race cars. Lol

You know m3 is a race car right? Ha

Exciting stuff, feels so recently I was scanning the net daily for F80 prototypes.

Still thinking X3M/X5M for me next!
