Interesting, can't say I've seen better than mid-30's out of mine although to be fair I haven't done many long runs; however, even when I have it's not been over 35mpg. Perhaps it just needs to loosen-up a bit - it's only just clocked 4k miles - although having said that my experience with previous new cars has been the mpg doesn't really change much as the mileage increases. Out of interest how many miles has your car done?

Interested to hear what your thoughts are.
I'm slightly nervous of going from an SUV to a "smaller" vehicle and whether I'm going to miss the space and practicality.

Both my kids play ice hockey, but at different age groups so it's rare that we will have to get both sets of kit in the car at the same time, and the older one now drives anyway, so the worst case is occasionally having to take 2 cars. IF our government ever allows them to play again Current 3 doesn't seem that much smaller than my F10 5 series was. |

I had a test drive of the M340d Touring over the weekend and what a hugely impressive piece of kit it is, huge grunt and effortless performance.
No regrets ordering the M340i Touring but test driving the M340d did make me wonder if I've chosen correctly, it's that good! On a side note, my son test drove the M135i and ordered one as a result so hoping for a double handover on the same day

I love diesels. Had an e36 325tds for 5 years, then an e39 530d touring for 10 years and then an e61 535d for 8 years (before moving to petrol). I love the torque. But to me the decision was made up because of the anti diesel politics (even worse than petrol).

The latest generation of the b58 with MHT is awesome, and a step forward over the previous version I had in my 440i. Low down grunt is significantly improved, and it never feels wanting.
Fuel economy is unreal, but when comparing with others you really need to think about the terrain you live in. I live near Newmarket where it is pretty much flat. To work and back is all fast A roads at around 60-70(ish) and I'm averaging 37-38 mpg in the first 900 Miles of its life. When I visit my family in Yorkshire, I expect from experience that this will be reduced to around 31-33 mpg due to the hills and much more frequent acceleration and breaking.

I’ve just ordered an M340i MHT
I considered the diesel, great engines and does kind of make sense in a 3 series Touring (I’ve driven Mercs 400d version) Unfortunately I’m a petrol head at heart and chasing that redline never ever gets boring for me, so after taking the 340i out and running it out through a few gears I didn’t even bother trying the diesel - not interested! |

What an engine the latest M340i has. Mine has clocked 1000 Miles today so I've was extending it a little on the way back from golf tonight. Jesus it is quick. I mean like wow quick. Why anyone would need a car any faster than this is beyond me. Smirk inducing in the extreme. Driving the car in sport individual, it has just so much more down grunt, but extend the engine up towards 5500 rpm and just wow.
As you can tell I'm impressed with what BMW have delivered here. If anyone is in any doubt, get yourself a test drive now before we are all driving electric hairdryers...

If we are all driving electric hairdryers as rapid as a Tesla 3 dual motor, I for one say "bring it on"
