In the olden days (2016) you could track the progress of your order via BMW genius chat from the web site. Some of us on the F3x board did this for our 340i orders. Not sure if this is still possible?

Yes the genius will still update you if you have the order number.

Other BMW markets allow buyers to track their orders online. But not the UK. We're not worthy...

Mine's only an estimate at this stage and might improve. You do need to factor in the factory closure in August though.

That’s very true, I was expecting a 14-16 week delivery on the M340i and was surprised when it was quoted as 8 weeks back in Jan. It will be worth the wait

I ordered my M340i saloon on 16 April and was quoted 30 July delivery, but that was just an initial estimate. I'm hoping for an update with an improvement but not holding my breath, given the chip shortages. I'm not sure I've even got a proper order number - mine is just 5 digits, so I think it might be a dealer number rather than BMW.

Update on mine (G21 330e M Sport, alpine white/mocha)

Good news is it has come forward.

Genius update (yesterday) scheduled to start build W/C 14th May, delivery to my BMW dealer W/C 7th June. So couple of weeks and I'll be able to get my VIN.

Order was confirmed by BMW on 14th Feb.

Ordered 330E xDrive M sport Pro edition on the 6th May, with options, had to delete tech + due to component shortages, but pretty much everything else is added.
Checked today with dealer and order is accepted, and quoting late / end September - so 24-25 weeks, should it arrive in that timeframe.
To be honest, with the shortage of components getting worse before it gets better, I am not holding my breath.
This is my first 'car' order since 1998 thanks to BIK, so the wait (not the fault of BMW) will take a little shine off the experience.

I have just had confirmed some deletions from my order, one of which is actually annoying.
Harmon Kardon system is gone.
Under boot kick comfort access is gone.
Wireless charging is gone.
Delivery remains 'end of September' for now.
I was originally having Technology + - but that is now not even an option.
From Technology pack we are losing wireless charging.
I have made it plain that any further deletions = order cancelled/placed on permanent hold until options are available again.
It's not the fault of BMW, but I have waited so many years to be able to order what I want, and then for it not to be available, well, it aint worth it.

Tech Plus also included DAP - So you would have lost this to I'm guessing?

Correct - Something I really wanted as well.
As I said, anything else and the idea is shelved until this shortage thing is over.

That is looking like 2023 TBH.

It's a little annoying isn't it.
From what I learnt today - you can order those options, but you will NOT get HK, Wireless charging, boot kick opening, passenger lumbar adjust, (if any of those are part of a pack required).

there were parts of tech+ I really wanted (DAP) but that pack is simply no longer an option - on the 330E at least.

Between Covid and fires in chip plants, the impact is across just about everything.

Yeah, I still want the car, I guess I may get the next one as I want it, hope the standard audio is good. Wireless kit would be nice, fingers crossed the HUD is still an option.

By way of an update, I've now been offered a build slot in July but have declined it as the car wouldn't have HK audio, enhanced BT/wireless charging, wifi hotspot (all from the tech pack) and comfort access boot opening. There's no date for these to be available again, so I may be sitting tight for quite some time.

Very jealous Thomas. My G21 is currently 'at sea'. With dealer next week then should be the next week for delivery to me!
