I missed those so sounds like a good choice then and I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

What sort of mpg should I be getting ?
Around 30mpg around town
43-48 on a run

To be honest I’ve stopped charging mine as fuel was so cheap it was the same price to charge it and use electric as to use on the ice that was achieving the mpg it was for the run I was doing. My commute is 60 miles round trip.

Oh so from your experience will I be able to get 40mpg average if I don’t charge ?
I am working from home now but when things go back to normal I’ll be doing 1500miles of which 70% would be motorway driving.....

Wow. Where do you live that fuel is as cheap as electric?
I did some simple maths (which admittedly is not my strong point) but I can't get anywhere near similar costs.
Seems my car costs about £1.80 a charge (on a standard non-ToU tariff at the moment), and say I get 25 miles, thats 7.2p a mile.
Even in the coldest recent days I would get around 20 miles from a full charge, so 9p a mile.
Unleaded on average is say £117.7p/litre (according to Google, not bought any for ages so not entirely sure). Assume 40mpg, thats 13p a mile.
I think.

Yeah electricity definitely cheaper than petrol. Maybe he means it’s not worth it for the hassle lol...

Yep bit to do with hassle but also to do with the length of my commute, car will do 55MPG using a full battery (23 miles) and rest on petrol. I drive 65 miles a day and the motorway is literally 1 mile down the road and my work is a mile off it at the other end. Without charging, I’ve seen figs of around 47-48 MPG.
We were having fuel around 107/l and I worked out it was saving me 40p per day which wasn’t worth the hassle. Have to admit that now it’s back up to 120/l I should probs re visit it!

So does the 330e perform just as well if you don't charge the battery?

Not really. With no battery charge the “overboost” is unavailable and there’s a lot of dead weight to carry about. If you can’t charge regularly there’s no point other than for BIK reasons. If you can charge it’s great.

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. Fortunately I can charge at home (getting a PodPoint) and at work.

330e is a fab car on electric and around town you would save hundreds of pounds every year. My issue is the length of my commute and no charging facility at work - if I did have I’d be raking it in as it would get there and back on electric (nearly). When I do any town driving I always try to charge as it gets 90MPG+ rather than 30 odd.

Just need to try not to fall into the common mindset that electric miles are free miles. It still costs to charge it up (unless you can charge for free at work obviously). The cost of your 20-25 electric miles are probably roughly equivilent to 10-15 ICE miles... so the 90+ MPG is a little misleading if you are using that to judge how much it'll cost to run.
(based on 40mpg @ 118p a litre)

I totally agree hence we need to discuss the mpg without charging etc but obviously if you can charge it it works out cheaper and helps the environment as well I guess ( assuming the power generated is not from fossil fuel)....
For my the reasons for mostly going for 330e compare to 320d is the massive BIK difference and I can see the difference is greater if you are a 40% tax payer!!
I will be happy if I can get 40mpg ++ during the working week ( doing 50-100 miles) on motorway.... I plan to charge the car using our local Tesco to drive the car on electric over the weekend which hopefully will improve my overall mpg....
With my current driving style I currently get 53mpg on a Mondeo.....
Can’t wait for Aug when I get my car...excited and nervous at the same time lol..

That’s decent mpg so if you assume you started with 22m full battery.....flat battery mpg would be 45++ if my maths is right....that’s much better than a normal 330i considering the extra weight hence the car must be regenerating a decent amount of energy...
Some of the posts today/yesterday makes me a lot comfortable as my initial calcs were based on 35 mpg...
