UK 2020 3 Series Infotainment Query
Took a used 3 series out for a test drive today - spec as follows:
320D M Sport X-Drive. UK 70 Plate (First Registered October 2020) but theres something not quite right with the interior. (PS. not being sold by a BMW Dealership.) It does not appear to have the live cockpit professional version 7 with the following observations: - It does not have the 12.3" drivers digital display but instead electronic dials with a small display in the middle - The main centre display is only an 8: display and not the 10" display you should get on this model - There is not Sat Nav on the car (there is not even the 'Nav' and 'map' buttons on the centre console. I've attached some pictures to explain This all seems very strange and wandering if anyone can shed any light on this? Thanks |

Are you sure it’s an M Sport? I think that set-up you’ve shown is standard on the SE and Sport.
I’ve just read your post again - no nav? Is it even a UK car?

Sure it was an M-sport, and not just a Sport?
Although as mentioned above, it still should have Sat Nav.

Yes, 100% M Sport. Even has the M Sport Pro pack (19" wheels / black grill etc)
See attached screen shot from online car checker. Also link below to the car itself. https://www.arnoldclark.com/nearly-n...rnycm-u-261835 The fact that it doesn't have sat nav is strange as all UK models should have it as standard. The online check I did says it is not an import. Car being sold by my local Mercedes dealership but think I'll phone my local BMW dealer in morning to see if they can explain. |

At a guess this is a lower spec SE or similar and the previous owner just added black grille and some other 'Pro' bits?
Best off getting the VIN and checking what it actually should have. |

Even if it's a lower spec car to which the owner has added bits it should still have basic nav as a UK car. I'd swerve this one by a mile.

Haven't been behind the wheel of an Audi, but had a 67 Golf R with their digi dash. Prob behind an Audi, but it was far too complicated though I guess having the map in the centre was quite nice, but TBH with HUD that rather negates things. One concern that I did have, was that the display sometimes got really very hot and I wondered about longevity. |

Isn't Portimao Blue an M Sport colour though?

Update - spoken with my local BMW Dealer who did a check on the car and apparently it was requested when the car was ordered from new that the connected drive / live cockpit professional was removed - he said he’d never heard of that happening before.

Given the debate and head-scratching this has just caused, imagine the headache you'll have trying to sell it on in a few years' time!

Apparently since mid 2019 or so BMW have been re-useing/re-issuing VIN numbers from cars that are confirmed as 'crushed and cubed'. Seems to be borne out by the fact that when the dealer puts the last seven characters of the VIN into their BMW parts system it comes up with my correct new car. |

Not sure - just spoke to local BMW dealership, gave him registration number and he looked up on the system. he said it was ordered as a fleet car from new last October with a request that the connected drive / live cockpit professional was not needed and as such it was not built in the spec. Possibly to do with it being ordered for fleet?

Current A4 is not a patch in terms of dashboard layout. Yes the instrument cluster is nice but the sticky up screen is not pretty. The A3 and A6 are better, apart from the heater panel which infuriatingly complicated. And MMI isn’t as good as I drive. But it all depends on what you are familiar with. I went from a A4 to a Volvo to the 330e. The BMW is the better package imo

This car is an oddity.
If it is reflected in a lower price that maybe OK to you but as had been said before, it could be difficult to sell on. More like a Taxi spec maybe. |

They certainly wouldn’t delete infotainment but add the M-Sport pack. It’s a very unusual spec. Why delete it if you don’t want it? No one forces you to use it.
