Still no OTA update
Is anyone else still not getting the 07.2021 or 11.2021 updates?
Usually by now I’d have had the app or car tell me there’s an update. Still stuck on 03.2021 |

Same, bmw customer service advised me to book it in with a service partner. So it's being updated end of month when it's with them

I can only assume there's a lot more to the updates than they advertise.

I might update if it cured the annoyances - like RingGo flashing up off street parking (when I specifically tick the box not to advise) and suggested destinations has started to reappear (which seems impossible to clear unless you accept the destination). Setting notifications to not show seems to be a complete waste of time, given that these annoying ones get through.

My was 3.2021 and I was wondering why I'm not getting any updates like before, I take it to dealership and they update it to 11.2021 honestly the idrive feels more responsive, lane assist is way better and it seems like driving dynamics feel much better.

All a bit odd. I’ve got a loan car at the moment while mine is at the dealer and that did the update first time.
I’ll probably just mention it when it’s next in for a service. |

I'm still stuck on 03/2021 too, I check weekly via idrive and the BMW app but still nothing. Not sure what triggers the update or does BMW just forgot about us.

Don't say that....means I'll have to go and get the update.

I have another BMW (128ti). That got the update straight away and it is great to have the display back. So I don't know BMW's timescales for sending updates out to various vehicles.

I have a G20 (70 plate)
My car is still on 07/2020. Do you know if this can be updated and if I have to take it to a dealer? Also is there a cost to update it? My service isn’t due for 6 months |

I can’t understand the logic behind what cars get what update and when.
Surely it’s as simple as an iPhone/ PC update. Every compatible car should have the software pushed to it just like every other company in the world manage to do. Previously I’ve not had an issue so looks like I’ll ,emotion it during its next service. |

No idea why they can't just have a downloadable file on their website that you can put on a USB stick and load up to the car. Problem with life these days, is that there are people who want to be too damned clever for no other reason than trying to be convenient, when in fact its the complete opposite as it doesn't work.

Literally no other company in the world does this Then you get dealers who don’t want to update your software. It’s such a hassle. |

There's good reasons for both - ilevel updates have the danger of bricking your car ( it happens more often than you think over Ethernet at dealerships ! ) so if your car is excluded, there's likely a good reason :
- a combination of ecus makes the chance of failure higher - a certain ecu needs a lot of changes that could fail under certain conditions - losing power during the process due to a lower than necessary battery. If you've ever read the ista release notes, there's a section at the end of a lot of conditions where it's a known update issue. As for the usb route, blame the car modders this doesn't exist. You used to be able to get direct accesss to ECUs via it ( how map patches and CarPlay patches worked ), but it was removed as it was an attack vector. If you ever struggle to get a dealer to flash your car, just say the Idrive Crashes / CarPlay won't pair |
