Good question!

I'm replacing the X3. I like the X3 and it is very practical, but I decided it wasn't a keeper. To be honest, the original plan was trading both the Z4 and X3 and just having one fun vehicle. I hated having my 'fun' car garage parked for the winter.

So I looked at a 2021 M5C, but the trade in value I was offered for the Z4 was considerably less than I was expecting. It was probably wishful thinking of getting an M5C, but at least I got to test drive one! I also test drove an M550I, but low residual values scared me away from that. I test drove an M340I and really liked it. But, I kept thinking why have another car when I already have one?

Almost every 340I my dealer has been getting since last year has not had adaptive suspension. I know enough from my Z4 and X3 that it's definitely something I do want. Last week they told me they were getting some in that did have it and it just happened to be the Performance Edition versions. The black one might be here tuesday so I will test drive that one. The Nardo Gray will be a few weeks yet.

It looks quite good in pics but i don't know how I'd go living with it on a daily basis.

It kinda screams Smurf to me!

So I'd say nay

From my experience the Fjord Blue is not as light as I see it here on my laptop in the 2nd pic & sure as hell not as dark as the first.

Would I get it? Yes.

Taste is a very personal matter. What is gorgeous to one person is hideous to another. I think that forums like this can be very helpful to car owners and I know that I have benefitted from it. But I question whether there is any benefit to asking a bunch of others what color combinations they think look nice.

If I didn't ask, I wouldn't have known about the Performance Edition models (not to be confused with M Performance). So in this case, there was a lot of benefit for me. The replies have been extremely helpful.

If this car has all of the other features you want in it then I would go for it. Not a huge fan of it, but I do not dislike it as it looks sporty and unique.

Would I handpick this specific interior over the other available choices? No
Would I take this interior if the car has all of the features I want? Yes

I was one step away from ordering Fjord Blue. I was looking for something making my car less common. Finally I decided there is too much blue in the rear:

and went with black + blue stiching.

Back then (it was over a year ago) I couldn't find any real photos of Fjord Blue.

It was later I found real photos of that color and I got extremely happy I didn't go for it. It seems so light and nothing like in the catalog.

Here is another beautiful M340ix that is one of the special specs. Might be a little pricey because of the special paint and Merino leather but it's spectacular. I have the M340xi 1st edition loaded and I was able to work a great deal. These cars are around if you really want to find them.
These retail about $5k more MSRP than a comparable fully loaded 340I. I'm getting a great deal, so the cost difference is a moot point for me.

The ones linked in this thread don't appear to have adaptive cruise control and from what I can tell, they are all configured with the exact same options. I have had a lot of issues with adaptive cruise control on my X3. At least they have adaptive suspension, or I would not consider them at all.

Rob
No adaptive cruise control. It has every other available option in the performance package except this. I had it on my AMG coupe but I don't miss it.

Different strokes for different folks. Adaptive cruise control has worked great for me in my current and former BMW and along with the HUD is one of my essential features for any purchase. For me it takes much of the stress out of driving.

Adaptive cruise control intermittently stops working on my X3. I've had it in to the dealership, but the error code only records that the radar didn't receive any data. There's no actual fault recorded so the dealership won't/can't do anything else. I won't miss it, but still have it on my Z4, which as not had any issues so far.

I love the HUD and never look at the actual speedometer dial on the left. I'm perfectly fine with how the rpm dial is too.

Blue interior on a blue car maybe isn't the best combination. I guess I'll just have to reserve judgement for when I finally see the car in person.

I noticed one thing that is different from your pictures. There is no blue dash pieces on the M340I Performance Edition. The blue car with blue interior in your pics does have that and it looks really out of place, especially when the left side mini compartment is still black.

For the record, I got my Nardo Grey M340I last month. The blue interior is darker than many of the pictures shown previously in this thread which leads me to think those might not be fjorde blue. To be honest, I don't even really notice the blue at all. It blends really well will the surrounding black trim.

Here's some pictures after ceramic coating was applied. Those are 18 inch bmw replica rims and winter tires. The stock 20's will need another week or 2 before going on. There could be snow or ice on the roads this thursday.

One guy did Fjord Blue on a grey F80 M3, and it looked sharp.

I say Yay.

It certainly would not be my first choice for a color. What do you think?
on my previous 4 Gran Coupe I had that blue color interior. the blue looks great. I like the 2 tone color.

Totally agree...I really don't like the lower dash trim. I have Tartufo and I love it but if I had it on lower trim as well it'd be way too much
