2021 dme lock

Hey G20 Community,

As most of you that are on the same boat as I am with the current DME locked, I have been in communication with a lot of companies to see who would be the first to crack this.

Today I hope we have a solution. I currently have an appointment with Carbahn in SJ to tune my locked DME. The tech over the phone said they have a new computer that might be able to accomplish what seems to be impossible for now....

I will update you rather they have cracked it or its dud. Wish me luck!!

I'm only about 20mins away from there, this would be good news indeed

*Update 1/12 3:22 PM

Just got home from Carbahn. No unlock yet but they scanned my DME and actually have a full team dedicated to bench unlock which is great. Chris is the rep over at Carbahn who I am working with. While I was there Chris showed me around the shop and a brand new computer/software to unlock the DME. I should hear back from them in a week, fingers crossed. I willl update more once Chris gives me a call and also after my tune.

I have a 2020 M340i, and my dealership updated my software to 2020/11.45. Is it still DME unlockable?

From my understanding that if your 2020 DME was unlocked before and the dealer added a softerware to lock it, you technically should be able to have your local tuner unlock it again. Only the 2021 DME that was built after 06/2020 were unlockable because it is a new Bosch DME.

Just from what tuners/others have said in this forum. Sorry if this wasnt a solid answer.

fingers crossed as the Steve Dinan has been ahead of the game for a bit, and hopefully their team can crack the code.

It will be fun to see who cracks it first - my money is on Mission Performance they have been the first to crack every version of the B58 to date since it was first introduced.

My money is on Mission too. Im hoping they are the ones that do crack the code because I want to retain my remote start and I like their support and customer service.

Pretty much what I expected honestly. Pulling for any one of the tuners at this point.

Update for all. Looks like I got my hopes up and oversold myself. After not receiving any calls from Chris and his team, I decided to call them today. He said it would most likely be a month or two. Glad I order jb4 and will have that until somone crack the DME.

While I'm sure there won't be any earth shattering updates...I will be at Mission Performance tomorrow 2/4/21 (riding along with my Son in his 328) and I'll see if Alex has anything he can share.

Yeah, no surprise there. And honestly, in a month or two they might say another month or two. No on really knows. There's no progress bar on this. One day, it'll just be cracked and we'll rejoice.

Until then, it's alternatives like JB+/JB4, RaceChip, etc.

Not even upset by it, 'most' people know it's going to be a few months.

Agreed. The JB4 I’m running makes a noticeable performance increase and the car now feels like I expected with regards to power output. It’ll do until DME is finally unlocked.

The ECU cracks all come from an Israeli company. Once cracked they sell it to all the tuners at the same time so everyone will have it.

some very cool project cars there
Z4 they are fitting with an M5 engine (that will be supercharged)
Alex's well publicized B58 equipped AWD M3 look wagon (F31) built from a 340 and a 328 wagon
2016 Tesla that has been modified/hacked to have autonomous drive and ludicrous mode (I got to drive this one holy poop)
