Coding Comfort Access/Contactless Entering (Lock when walking away)

Hey there,

My car is a 2020 G20 320i. It comes with comfort access, but not contactless entering.

With the keyfob in my pocket, I am able to grab the handle to lock and unlock the car. However, I would like to walk up to the car and walk away from the car with the keyfob in my pocket, and the car will unlock and lock itself respectively.

Would anyone know how to code this using Bimmercode?

Thank you

To clarify, this is what I am looking for

Pretty sure that's standard functionality but you do have to enable it in the iDrive settings somewhere, as least that's what I had to do.

Hi, unfortunately some cars do not come with the Comfort Access 2.0. I think 2018 G20s?

I’ve come across a link where this issue was brought up too
https://cartechnology.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=58507

Thanks for your help

2019 was the first year for the G20.

I think production started in 2018.

Sorry about the confusion, I was referencing the cartechnology link, where the guy had a 2018 G20 with the same issue.

I was just wondering if anyone else had come across the same issue and how they managed to code the comfort access 2.0 in.

Thank you

Just an update,

After coding the KEY_CONF_UNLOCK and CKT_DOOR_LOCK_UNLOCK to active under Headunit Expert Mode, the iDrive unit now shows the Comfort Access Options (Lock door when walk away and Unlock when walk near).

However, after I check the box, it still does not work. Car does not automatically unlock when i am walking towards the car. I suspect some coding of the BDC is required.

If anyone has any experience in this, feel free to chime in.

Thank you

Yeah mine is 2019 model. Could be that the hardware required for the feature is not present in 2018 model?

What is mucking up the discourse on this thread is the difference in configuration and nomenclature for different markets.

The US market is on the "model year" system where as most international markets the "year" of a car is the year it is produced.

Also very different levels of standard equipment is comfort access is different than international keyless access.

To OP it sounds like you have just the basic keyless access without the correct set of receivers in the car to enable the approach functionality. It's unlikely this is a coding issue and more likely you are missing hardware.

Hi, Thanks for the help.

Actually I have had this coding done by a workshop before, without any hardware changes.

However, the new software update pushed out erased some of the coding, including this. Im also unable to return to my workshop for them to code it again, and I was looking to code it myself

Thank you

Hello, I just found the solution today, and decided to update this thread.

First, under Headunit expert mode (bimmercode), look for
KEY_CONF_COMFORT (This can be not active/active does not seem to matter)
KEY_CONF_UNLOCK_VEHICLE (make it active)
CKT_DOOR_LOCK_UNLOCK (Make it active)

This should enable the menu on your iDrive.

Proceed to BDC expert mode,
Look for CKT_Enable
Ausgelesen -> Aktiv (default should be not active if the function is not available for your car)

Do let me know if it works for you

Cheers

Hi,

Did you figure this out by trial and error or do you have a resource for this?
I was wondering myself.

Hi Muffinman336,

It doesn't work for me. My car is a 330e produced in 2021. The iDrive unit now shows the Comfort Access Options (Lock door when walk away and Unlock when walk near).

However, after I check the box, it still does not work. Car does not automatically unlock when i am walking towards the car.

Is any additional coding required?

Thank you so much.
