Why can’t they just do a modern version of E92 or E46 a la Porsche with 911.

This is a hideous design that would do well in the Hyundai lineup with tacky styling!

Looks like absolute heap of crap, the BMW design team these days have no clue what the hell they are aiming for. Looking at the side profile of this car sure looks like they tried to incorporate some muscle car look in the design language, look at those hips lol! Just doesn't go hand in hand at all.

What an absolute mess. These are dark days for BMW designs indeed. I think these awful exteriors are manifestations of the overall confusion and uncertainty brought about by BMW being forced to adopt a platform (electrification) it thought it could ignore- the ugliness, the disjoint lines and abandonment of classic cues all represent the chaos brought on by conflicting automotive philosophies and brand confusion....

Or Domagoj Dukec just really sucks at creating pleasing car design....

If they fire him and get straight with emergent technology they may manage to keep enthusiast business- I'm sorry, a MT and RWD are truly fantastic but not when the exterior is sickening...

Its very weird even with MB its the same. US gets screwed while Canada gets awesome stuff like the A-Class hatchback, C43 Wagon, and E53 Wagon. How hard would it be for MB to bring them over the border?!?

Good afternoon everybody. I've been thinking about the design(s) since the release of this post. My opinion still has not changed, the design is in the absolute wrong direction. I've dug up BMWs annual reports along with their press releases, especially when they hired the new design head. I'm thinking they wanted to accentuate key parts of BMW's design in order to satisfy their emergent clientele in China, but I feel that their hire of the new design head was an overshoot. I get that they wanted to go in a different direction but I believe they may have gone too far. I would not doubt that, if the next design is just as bad, that he will be gone in a short number of years. At some point, BMW has to cut their losses and realize that they screwed up. Personally, I would wait to see what the sales figures are and if they are not up to target, fire him.

The design is just horrible. I'm sure the interior is very nice and I'm sure that the drivetrain is going to be awesome, but seriously when's the last time you bought a car because it had a good personality.

New cars are to bloated and overstyled in every possible way.

I'd still take your lower prices and MUCH MUCH lower lease rates, over more options.

The new M3/4 is a lost cause, design wise.

I can understand people buying/leasing it for the performance and tech gadgetry, but I don't believe for a second when anyone tries to justify that the exterior design is on point and looks great.

Best thing of this car is the M seats lol. Really tried to like this car but nah, I just can't. The new 4 looks very different and stands out, but ugly is ugly. The rear looks very replicated.
