I agree. I can see that BMW is going in direction of option packages to bring down the cost and complexity of manufacturing process, but in the case of high-beam assist i really think they should kept it as a standalone option for US.

Another thing that I see getting worse: There is an increase in the number of options that are are connected to (require) other options. For instance, why should Harman Kardon sound system require addition of Live Cockpit Professional that costs almost €3.000 in EU. And there is much more of this once you go into driving assistant systems.

LED Headlight with cornering (non laser)

I noticed that BMW has a habit of making headlights with 2 bulbs and the inner bulb is always a dummy. That includes the 2019/2020 model as well. Does anyone know if its possible to get the dummy bulb to light up as well?

I don't believe you can.

No, wiithout ripping out the dummy lens, and heavily modifying the headlight assembly.

Just to give a brief feedback to anyone wondering what type of headlights to order.

I got my G20 just last week. I ordered Adaptive LED + Auto high beam option (I didn't order Lasers with Selective beam). I'm extremely happy with the power output of these headlights in all conditions. It's way better than bi-xenon on my previous car. City, backroads, highway, it performs great on all roads. Beam throw is extended on high speeds, and widened in slower speed city driving. Driving on twisty roads is much safer as the light perfectly follows the curves ahead of the car.

I have absolutely no regrets that I skipped on lasers.

Calamari many thanks for posting this. Because of the price of laser light I skipped on it. Did order other options; I believe everything that has to do with or includes something with lights. Last weeks developed some doubt if I made the right choice. Your post confirmes I did!

Just to be sure, could you please post a picture of your headlights? Thanks!

You're welcome. If you don't absolutely need Selective beam, you will be more than happy with Adaptive LED headlights.

Below is the pic of my car with adaptive led headlights:

Very nice and thanks for sharing. Personally I like the DRL of the laser light unit better, however it doesn't justify the costs for the looks alone. Overall the front still looks awesome to me so I take the slightly lesser mad looking DLR for granted. 😊

I had similar thoughts when I was deciding what headlights to order.

Although, Laser DRLs look a bit like the ones on the latest Golf, which is not exactly the front light signature I would prefer on a BMW 3 series.

I'm willing to say $3k/ea. The standard LED lights on my F30 were just replaced. Cost was $2131 each.

I also echo this. My current '17 F30 w/ standard LED headlights don't seem to be as bright as my previous '14 F30 w/ the adaptive HID's. However, from a cosmetic standpoint, I do like these LED's better.

Does anyone know which lights come standard on the 330xi. On the spec sheet I have it says LED w/ cornering (5A4). However it’s also part of the convenience package. If I opt not to get the convenience package would I still receive the LED cornering lights. Some confusion since the spec sheet says LED cornering lights even though I didn’t get the convenience package (I know sounds confusing)

Damn! That cost though. <cringe>
I am one who also preferred the HID's, which is why I didn't spec the LED's when I changed ///M4's.

The laser lights with the automatic high beam is pretty amazing. The clarity on dark backroads is amazing and it shuts off at oncoming traffic. I’m glad I went with this option.

I agree - my M340i RWD came with the Executive Package, which I didn't particularly want, but the laser headlights are such an improvement over anything I have ever driven previously I'm really glad they are on the car. Night driving is SO improved. Can't speak to how they compare to LEDs on this car, but I can say the laser lights are really excellent.

Without laser headlights and just the regular Daytime Running lights in LED, the front face of the car looks odd, like sleepy hollow face with U shapped under eyes.

Whereas with the Laser headlights, it has the better Daytime Running lights with longer LED strip that extends into the famous Hofmeister kink, making the front of the car look more defined, alert, awake, ready for BMW action!

If the M340i was in my budget, definitely a must.

I'm happy I included them in my build, even though it's 330 Xdrive. Yes, I tried driving with them on at night on the highway and they really illuminate very far..

Just pick up my new 330e .I'm in Portugal - Europe (just changed for the new version) ...... disappointed !! I just realise now that the M-Sport package came with the basic LED lights . Not the Adaptive LED (ZCV) .Will call the delaer tomorrow . My previous M-Sport had those Led's .... so much money paying the M-Sport package and comes with the basic leds ??
