Had my local bmw garage reach out, with a video of their showroom saying hello.
After some discussion, he suggested running some numbers as they have some deals on. I have a very well specced M340i, 2.5 years old which I negotiated at the time to £619/m 15k miles. At the time it was a step up in monthlies for me, but it felt worth it and I have not regretted it for a second as the m340i is frankly awesome. Had them run the numbers today on an M440i gc, equivalent spec. He said the good news is you can switch in with no up front cost, just an increase in monthlies due to new prices so what did I think.... £1029/m... I nearly choked... No bmw contributions 4.9% finance is what I think... I think I'll stick.

I had a similar call a month or so ago. I got my car in December 2020 before the car world went mad.
I’ve done far less miles than I thought so I’m in quite a bit of equity. Anyway the guy ran the numbers on a like for like G20 just brand new. Spec wise I said it can’t be missing anything mine currently has, so tech pack, msport pro pack, comfort pack, premium and lasers (although now just adaptive as oppose to lasers). Came back with part ex mine c£8k equity at the moment and £310 more a month. I honestly don’t know who is signing up to these deals. Clearly people are as he said that was the best he could do. |

OP, I'm not surprised the dealer is reaching out, as they're still keen to build stock (even if supplies are recovering), but it should be like for like in terms of the monthly! For a grand a month, I would expect to be pootling around in a nicely spec'd M3/4... To be sure, finance rate is pretty good, given the current context; but does little to compensate for the fact that that's a big jump up on the payments for relatively little gain in what you can look forward to in the car itself. Given that your 340 will likely handle better than a 440, you're right to stick with what you have.

I fancy if it was 1-2 g in, and perhaps up to £700 for the switch accounting for inflation since May 2021 when I last bought, I'd be tempted with my general love of new metal.
Current spec has just about all options, mseats, lasers, HUD, heated elec seats and wheel, Harmon Kardon, comfort access etc etc....

That's nuts. Who is going to pay that?!
Mrs 225 car is up for renewal in June so the more I see things like this the more we are going to go 2nd hand. Actually thinking of bmw X2s as they are pretty good value a couple of years old. |

There are two fully-loaded (Tech, Visibility etc.) ones available with BMW AUC advertised for £27k. Both are almost 5 years old, with mileage north of 40 000 miles. My "cost to change" to a used 330i is now twice as high as it previously was in Feb 2020, but my salary certainly hasn't doubled to enable me to keep up. I guess other people are in a much more positive financial boat because the stealers seem to have no problems shifting desirable G20s at what seem to be exorbitant pricing. |

For comparison, I pay £746pm (£3k deposit) for a fully loaded 840i GC - Tech plus pack, comfort plus pack, m-sport pro pack, individual paint. I’m very tempted just to buy it outright and stick with it, because prices these days have just gone insane. That said, the car market is beginning to crash, and I’m fairly certain going into next year there will be silly discounts going on new cars just to shift them. |

I think an equivalent used G21 M340i is more expensive currently than an 840i. A friend of mine did snag a new M8 some time ago at a much lower price than he could get an M5 for, so he was pretty happy with that. |

I found a couple of Volvo S60 that seem more worthwhile. A 6 month old Ultimate in Swindon for £33k (6.9% APR), or something opposite in Wakefield - 3 year old with almost all options - £23.5k. You might want to have a look at those too? |

I see some pricing comparisons into Volvo, and I've been driven in a number and see the fact they are well put together, but at the end of the day, I just cannot get excited about any Volvo...

Today for £28k, I get the same MY2019 330i but 4 years older and extra 30k miles on the clock. In the meantime, my boring old F30 has lost £6k in trade-in value, so my cost to change has rocketed up , and I would be getting a much older car. Hence my current attraction to S60 and Audi A5 204 hp S-Line Sportback (one year old, 20k miles for only £28k). |

I think I'm gonna be keeping my M340i until the end of time at this rate. First world problems heh...
